I’m really looking for some honest advice and also wanted to hear other people’s experiences with food addiction or any other addiction and how you realised you needed help.
For me, I think I’m finally starting to realise that my relationship with food isn’t normal or healthy. One of the biggest things that made me question myself was realising that I can literally have my last bit of money, have already eaten, and still spend that last money ordering another meal simply because I can. Then afterwards, I regret it and feel stressed because I’m broke.
I’m constantly going back and forth with diets. I can lose weight, feel motivated and tell myself that this time will be different, but then I eventually lose control of my food intake again and gain the weight back. It feels like a constant cycle that I can’t get out of.
Sometimes I don’t even feel physically hungry, but I still feel the urge to eat or order food. Afterwards I feel guilty, regretful and promise myself I’ll start again tomorrow, only for the same thing to happen again.
When did you realise that your relationship with food had become an addiction or something you needed help with? How did you get help and what actually worked for you?
And for anyone who has struggled with any other type of addiction, what was the moment that made you realise you needed to make a change, and how did you begin getting help?
Please be kind — I’m genuinely asking because I feel like I need to understand what is going on with me and figure out how to break this cycle.
