Advice for a new vacuum cleaner. Cordless or Corded

Our cordless vacuum cleaner and now gone kaput. It was 15 years old so it's had a good time.

What next, does anyone recommend a good one.
We live in a bungalow mix of carpet and tiles plus a long pile rug.
We have a dog.
Don't mind if it's Cordless or Corded.
I've looked at a corded Dyson and a cordless one plus seen a Gtec cordless.

Don't want to spend more than £250 tops.

bought a Gtech cordless (pet) one about 3 months ago, very, very pleased, much easier to empty, pet hair does not get caught round rollers that our old Shark one did. Very light to use, and packs away. Only downside is does not have hand held nozzle, so still use old vacuum for crevices. We have a Newfoundland dog, so have lots of dog hair, mix hard floors / rugs, also live in bungalow.
