What to do on my birthday

Is my 40th soon. My birthday is on a week day. Me and DH both have the day off, older DC will be at school. We don't necessarily need to be home for them after school.
I've got lots of celebrations around the date with family, friends etc. But what to do on the actual day ? I don't like theatre/city trip/art/zoos/stately homes/NT. I'm out for breakfast first thing with friends, so a day trip to the coast is not an option as I wouldn't be around to leave until 11ish.
Thoughts ?

How far is the coast? Woodland walk and an ice cream/fish and chips instead?

Coast is 2 hours drive each way

Breakfast. Home for 11 with DH for a shag and a nap. Get ready mid afternoon, out for cocktails then dinner. Bed.

I'd still go to the coast - brunch with friends, then straight to beach for a wander and dinner in the evening overlooking the ocean.

You've said what you don't like, what do you like? I don't mean that in a sarky way just might help to think of things!

I would get out into the countryside for a big walk, then wander around a pretty village where hopefully they have a lovely pub for lunch. But if you really prefer the coast you probably could still fit that in.

Why can't you go to the coast at 11? You'd be there by 1 and you don't need to be back for DC, so you could have a nice wander around, swim, paddle, ice cream, piss away a few quid's worth of pennies in the amusements and have fish and chips when you're ready (mid afternoon or so if you've been out for breakfast?) and then set off back at 6 when the worst of the traffic will have died down. Leave pizza in the freezer for DC to cook themselves for dinner.

Shame you're going for breakfast really as that kind of messes up the day a bit. You won't want lunch after that either I guess. Is your DH taking the day off specially for your birthday? I think your only option is to go to the coast, you should get there by 2pm at the latest and then do whatever you do at the coast! Maybe stop off on the way back for a nice pub meal.

Well since you're already going out for breakfast that's almost half the day. Personally I'd probably go for a nice walk in the countryside then I'd want to do something with the kids when they're back so maybe out for dinner or something with them

I'd go to the seaside, you'll be there by lunchtime. Then head back after 6 or clock when the traffic dies down.
