What is the community like in and around Chailey?

Hi,
I’m considering moving to the Chailey area in East Sussex and wondered if anyone who lives locally could give me a feel for what the community is like?

I’m particularly interested in things like whether it feels friendly and mixed, what the general political/social atmosphere is like, and whether it’s quite traditional/conservative or more politically mixed. I’m aware voting patterns don’t necessarily tell you what an area is actually like day-to-day, so I’d really appreciate people’s experiences rather than just election results.

Also interested in things like community spirit, families/children, local activities and whether people tend to get to know their neighbours.

Thanks!

I always felt it was somewhere one drove through on the way to Lewes.
It’s rather elongated too, I don’t see it as a hub type village I would choose to spend time in like Newick or Ringmer.

Some very pretty houses though.
