Downsizing kitchen kit: keep the Kenwood Chef or switch to Magimix?

I'm downsizing, just me and 1 young adult DC left at home. I used to bake and cook for loads of people on a regular basis. Not anymore.

I have got a Kenwood Chef with the food processor, mini chopper, pasta thing and mincer. I use the mini chopper and food processor more than anything else, might make a cake every other month. Rest of it is unused.

I used to make bread quite a bit but have fallen out of the habit, however, I like making my own bread because I like using high protein flour and prefer home-made bread so I think I might start doing this again (moving more rurally too so another reason to bake bread again, no nice bakery within walking distance). I have also got a panasonic bread maker which I used to like using overnight, but I preferred to make it myself, so thinking that needs to go.

I'll have less room when I move, although I could make room for the Kenwood in a cupboard. I wondered if a Magimix might be a reasonable option with a smaller footprint.

Any ideas welcome.

I don’t know anything about Magimix, but my elderly mum still has the Kenwood Chef she used back in the 1980s when she was catering for six of us. It was very useful when she became unable to do various rubbing in / beating / chopping tasks manually. It’s had the occasional part replaced, but still works perfectly. Unfortunately it’s now too heavy for her and she is beyond learning to use a smaller machine.

I won’t downsize my equipment until I really need to.

Keep the Kenwood. They last forever.

I know how well they last. It’s footprint and storage of the bits and pieces I’m thinking about and how well a magi mix might do the same job (or not) for two people.

I’ve never understood the hold magimix seems to have on people. I have a magimix equivalent with loads of different blades etc and it’s sat in my kitchen cupboard for 13 years without being used. If I want to chop things, I used a knife or I have a mini food processor bought when kids were babies.I have a kitchenaid mixer that sits on my counter and gets used weekly to make pizza dough, frequently to make cakes. I wouldn’t be without it. But am now going to get rid of my magimix thing.

Get rid of the bits you dont use. Keep what you do use.
