Morning all! What's everyone up to today?

Good morning from the train to Leeds for Leeds Fest day 2, with dd1!

We're up and out...off to spend a fortune & try our luck for a barricade spot at the main stage.

Dd2's off to town, shopping, with their dad. Not sure what they're going for but she was lured with the promise of a trip to Costa and Waterstones 🤣.

We definitely won't make the last train tonight (we did last night!) so will be home for a few hours sleep probably around 1am, before doing the small stages tomorrow.

What about all of you? 🙂

Good morning lucysmam and others. Enjoy the festival!
I have had 2 coffees and a slice of very inadequate toast- the end of the loaf. Shortly I'm heading out for second breakfast with a friend. Her daughter is coming too. We all get along well. Then home to await a tesco delivery and do a quick hoover. This evening I'm going to dds to babysit while she and dsil take his parents out for dinner to celebrate his mum's retirement. It won't be a late night. Enjoy your day

frozendaisy · 29/08/2026 09:42

Blimey that sounds full on!

Well almost the opposite here
It emerged that youngster goes back to school next week I thought we had next weekend, but no so it’s getting back into school routine
eldest has a mountain of college work
We’ve been running round all week and today is a much needed although dreadfully timed (bank holiday events) rain drenching

So plan is to try on some uniform - make a list I guess of stuff needed to buy Tuesday
watch the rain soak garden
drink tea
jacket potatoes for dinner

OchreSwan · 29/08/2026 10:08

Sounds like excellent fun @lucysmambut rather you than me I have to say!

We’re staying with my in-laws for the long weekend, absolutely tipping it down here so not sure what we’ll get up to today. Had a lovely lie in so need breakfast and a coffee first! I’d not be too disappointed if we end up just staying in with some board games, or I can read/knit.

This evening DP and I are off to a nearby friend’s house for dinner so that should be nice. Need to pop in somewhere to pick up a bottle of something nice on the way.

MissyB1 · 29/08/2026 10:12

Gosh nothing exciting like festivals here sadly. Pouring with rain here and a dog that desperately needs walking but she hates the rain! To be fair I hate it too, will have to drag her out soon, she hasn’t even had a wee 🙄

gingercat02 · 29/08/2026 10:15

DS is at Leeds too, have fun.
I've been ill since we came back from the Netherlands on Tuesday with some flu-like thing and a horrible cough, so my weekend will be hot drinks and paracetamol.
Have a good day all.

Brendayouknowthatyouremuchtoolazy · 29/08/2026 10:15

That sounds like a great day Lucysmam enjoy. I'm sorting out my INSET for Wednesday and getting the house back in order. Might do some cooking for the freezer if I CBA. DD is at Reading, so the house is quiet other than my chatty cats.

Theheatishot · 29/08/2026 10:26

i am sat in my camper with my dog. It’s raining. Undecided whether to push on through today or just go home as it’s set to rain all day.
we’re not on a campsite and can go anywhere. We’re midlands. Well, just outside Manchester at the moment.
maybe go to the boat under the cave in the Peak District.
i love going away and rain doesn’t stop me. But I have my period, the beginnings of thrush and I’m not feeling it today……….
Husband is doing my head in by his existence…….. 😏

ShipshapeShore · 29/08/2026 10:44

Quiet, pottery kind of day today I think. Went back to work on Monday (school) and worked really hard to get on top of things there and I've been really good following The Organised Mum Method on the house so I feel like I can recharge a bit today! Bit of gentle tidying with a podcast and reading. I do need to go to Lidl first though which I hate.

Tiddlywinks63 · 29/08/2026 10:46

Good morning. It’s piddling down with rain and I’m so pleased!
DH won’t be quite as happy, he’s out walking bigger dog….. his sister is ‘popping in for a few minutes’ that’s at least three hours of her talking nonstop
so that won’t exactly thrill him either! He tolerates here, which is generally more than I do because she’s incredibly intrusive and rude 😵‍💫
So far I have put away the washing that I got done yesterday, tidied the kitchen, sorted out two cupboards so I can put stuff away and am about to have a coffee.
I enjoyed toast with a fried egg, tomato and mushrooms, a treat.
So now I’m pooped! I had my follow up from surgery this week, yes it was cancer, no signs of spread so close monitoring for five years as other nodules will turn malignant in time. Perfectly happy with that, I have every confidence in the wonderful team.
So, little planned for the rest of today, I’d like to start another piece of sashiko or crewel embroidery while I listen to podcasts or an audiobook.
@lucysmam Have a wonderful time at Leeds, like @OchreSwan it definitely isn’t for me!
Husband is doing my head in by his existence……..………I know exactly what you mean @Theheatishot , mine treads on very thin ice regularly!
Have a lovely weekend everyone x

PermanentTemporary · 29/08/2026 10:47

Wow! Have a great day @lucysmam!

Im finishing my second coffee in the bath before doing some small jobs like watering houseplants and pulling the next few things to sort out from under ds’s bed (he’s moved out now and I am slowly sorting his room).

We’ll have a bit of salad for lunch and then go into town to see the Odyssey, then I am taking dp out to eat. A busy day tomorrow so am keeping it chilled today.

Iliketulips · 29/08/2026 10:53

Practically I've done some dusting. Also a mini online chi class. We're currently in our favourite cafe, having walked 30 mins to get here. We follow football and horse racing, so will watch that later. I love reading, so will no doubt get a few more chapters read.

MissConductUS · 29/08/2026 10:53

I've just gotten up with the larks and fed the cats, who were starving. DS is visiting for the weekend. He's going to see a local football match tonight at 7:00, so we'll have to have an early dinner.

It's going to be a gorgeous late-summer day today, with clear blue skies and not too hot, so we'll probably go to the town pool to swim and lounge, then come home for an early dinner of burgers on the grill and corn on the cob.

The garden is in good shape, other than occasional invasions by wild turkeys. So no need to work in the garden today.

DilemmaDelilah · 29/08/2026 10:53

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

I've been out already this morning... Been to two different (cheap) shops for craft supplies. Two major routes into the city are either closed or down to one lane, which is having a huge impact on all the other roads, so since I was awake and compos mentis fairly early we thought we would go out early before it gets too bad. It was a good decision, the roads were relatively clear.

Far away daughter and Houdini left to go home on Wednesday morning, so I have been getting through changing the beds and washing the sheets, towels and table napkins. I like to use proper table napkins and everybody's personal napkin rings when we have people here... but the lasagne we had on Monday evening left some really bad stains on my white napkins. I washed them on a hot wash - that didn't get the stains out. Soaked them in stain remover - that didn't get the stains out. Finally soaked them in bleach which seems to have done the job. They just need another wash now.

I have name tapes to see onto chorister grandson's new school uniform, he seems to have a lot of stuff and I'm only half way through it. As my eyesight is getting worse I am finding it more of a struggle though. Other than that and the laundry I don't have anything else planned for today.

Supper tonight with be ham, salad and jacket potatoes for both of us. My diet went to put when my daughter was here so I've got to get back into the swing of things now. I haven't really thought about lunch.... maybe soup out of a tin, or scrambled eggs.

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 29/08/2026 10:56

The fair is in town!!

Actually it’s a town over, but I am still going to the fair.

No children, just DP and I going round and round until we’re dizzy.

daffodilandtulip · 29/08/2026 10:57

Absolutely freezing and looking forward to everyone going back to their own routines. Summer is my busiest for work, plus uni kid home, college kid has been off since the end of June. I feel like all I’ve done is chase after them, even holiday washing for the boyfriend 🤣. I’m just a bit done really 😅 (yes yes I will be crying by the end of the month when they’ve all gone again).

I have a RHS magazine and a cup of tea and I might just never move again.

Kim82 · 29/08/2026 11:12

Good morning everyone. It’s been a very slow start today. Dh has made everyone bacon sandwiches and is now cooking sausages for everyone too. Dd12 is away until Monday with her friend, dd19 is asleep after only getting home at 6am from a night out with ds25! She has work at 5pm tonight so hopefully she won’t feel too hungover.

The plan for today is for me, dh, dsis and dbil (who are still staying with us) to get the train to Liverpool, have a good look round the museum then have a few drinks. We’ll have tea out somewhere and then get the train back home later. We’re considering a bottomless brunch but haven’t booked anywhere so that probably won’t happen but that’s fine.

I’m going to eat my sausage sandwich when it’s ready, get showered and dressed then go and get my nails done as they’ve grown out after being away in Salou last week with dd12 - why on earth does the sun make them grow so quickly?! - and then we’ll all get ready and head into Liverpool mid afternoon and see where the evening takes us.

Thislittlekitten · 29/08/2026 11:24

Morning all

I have had the dog out for a long walk. I’m so warm. Very dull but close day here.

Went to the local butcher, baker and greengrocer got some lovely stuff.

I have family over later and a wee one staying the night. Will probably have a movie night later.

I have some course work to fit in and a general tidy. Think butcher sausages for tea tonight.

lucysmam · 29/08/2026 11:52

@gingercat02 who's he seeing? We're currently sat in front pit for Keo! The weather seems to be much the same as yesterday, so that's a bonus.

@Brendayouknowthatyouremuchtoolazy you've reminded me I really need to send our new HT an email- I need to leave Tuesday's INSET early for an appointment

God knows, I haven't heard from him since Thursday to say his tent was up before the rain started. Kasibian on Thursday and Florence were the big draw but I'm sure he's doing loads i have never heard of.

mondaytosunday · 29/08/2026 12:47

Good afternoon!
Im just finishing my first meal of the day. Then will work on my crochet project until my DD surfaces and we might go to Curry’s to get her laptop looked at - she got it via DSA and after two years it is seizing up. We went the other day and they worked on it for an hour (after completing freaking her out by saying all her data was gone). She managed to put it on an (overpriced) flash drive and it seemed ok but yesterday same error messages. So back we go. My son (he doesn’t live with me but I still include him in my thoughts of the day) is working and there’s a huge scooter rally and his shop has a stand there - whether he’ll be at the rally or manning the shop idk. The shop sells scooter type clothes - they are all into it.
Later it’s Hello Fresh lamb steak sandwich with salad.
Busy week ahead so going to enjoy a mainly chilled weekend.

shellyleppard · 29/08/2026 12:51

Afternoon @lucysmam hope you have a fantastic time at the festival. Currently trying to get confetti out of the corners 😂😂
My sons 21st birthday yesterday and I let off a couple of small confetti cannons..... it's gone everywhere 😂😂

Giggorata · 29/08/2026 13:15

Good day lucysmam and all.
I have decided not to travel to the big steampunk event in Lincoln today, as the weather is pants. I will see how it goes over the rest of the weekend.
A shame, as I do like to dress up in my mad steampunk finery.

I will end up reading my new book this afternoon, despite good intentions for doing other things. DH says his plans for today are just “being alive.”

We're having home made chicken and mushroom pie for dinner, with carrots, cabbage and mash. We both feel like a really basic dinner, after all the summery salads.

Rainbow1235 · 29/08/2026 13:16

Good afternoon lucysmam and to u all . We are about to pop to the retail park as I’ve had a rubbish week so need some retail therapy then home for takeaway and wine in front of the tele . Have a great and safe day all 🫶

Tarkan · 29/08/2026 13:23

Enjoy the festival lucysmam!

I was at a wedding last night and bumped into an old friend from school who I haven’t seen in a long, long time so I chatted to him for a while which was lovely.

Was meant to be off to footy today but my hips are agony (I didn’t even dance at the wedding so they’re just being traitors for the sake of it) so I can’t manage the walk out to the stadium which is a shame.

Instead I’m going to have a lazy day with the TV and I’ve swiped the Switch 2 from the kids to play some Tomodachi Life.

Simonjt · 29/08/2026 14:11

Morning, I didn’t wake up until 9:30, I don’t think thats happened since I was a teenager.

Everyone else has gone, both the kids had dance at 9, I do need to get my arse into gear and meet them in about an hour as today we’re going to get our sons new to him hockey kit for the new season, even second hand its painfully expensive.

I hope everyones enjoying saturday so far.
