Hi good afternoon. I’ve been offered two jobs and need help to decide which to go for.
Job A - in my current industry, senior title, managing a team of 20, big remit, lots of progression opportunities, high risk delivery, full on work, in office 1-2 days a week, 40 min commute. Salary £6k more than I’m on and pension 12% employer cont.
Job B - outside my current industry, civil service. No management responsibilities. Smaller remit, interesting but not critical perhaps. Fewer progression opportunities. 2-3 days a week in office. 25 min commute. Salary £18k less than I’m on with the possibility of going to £10k less even...! 29% civil service pension. Based in the most incredible building in the world (in my opinion) - Houses of Parliament, literally the most insane opportunity to work in this historic and exciting building.
I can just about cut my cloth to manage the lower salary though I don’t want to, because I desperately want to work in that building someday. However, the other job just looks better on paper. I really loved both teams at interview so that isn’t helping sway it.
Though I’m obviously chuffed to have been offered two great jobs, I really feel sad and torn about this. Any advice?
