Have you tried eco/ unbleached toilet rolls?

Just realised Facebook is bombarding me with ads for unbleached loo rolls. To anyone who has tried them - what do you think of the colour? I think they're supposed to be soft, which is something DH really values. And the cost? Any comments at all, id be interested to hear your experiences

I'm currently using them..... strange colour 😂😂 the texture is the same as normal toilet paper though.

Do people not realise how unenviromentally friendly toilet roll is? It's full of chemicals. I tend to gather dock leaves (or similar) keep them moist in a bag and use those to wipe. It also has the advantage of being free. A cloth on a stick also comes in handy.

I use them (naked paper). You get used the colour and then it seems normal. It just feels like normal toilet paper to me - though I have never liked the luxury quilted ones so I wouldn't want that kind of softness. I also like that the ones I order come in a big cardboard box and are not individually wrapped.

@BarnacleBeasley thanks for this. Yes I can't see why anyone would want them wrapped individually. So have you just tried one brand so far? Are they reasonably priced?

which ones are those? I can't stand the rolls that are all wrapped individually. What a palaver.

@EmailsaysOOO the best ones are definitely bumboo. £44 for a box of 48 rolls but they last for months. Extra long rolls too.
Currently using bim bam poo..... good quality but rolls aren't as long.

I use Naked Paper. They are reasonably priced compared to other eco/premium brands, I think, and I like that they remind you when your subscription renews and make it quite easy to change the delivery dates.

We get BoxRolls made in the UK from UK paper waste. I could not quite get my head round shipping toilet roll across the globe.

i get the recycled paper ones from Tesco, the colour is a bit weird but texture the same.

I agree with @IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads , shipping them half way round the world negates any eco promises.

I'd also be much more interested if companies sold them in high street supermarkets , it'd be easier to compare prices and buy smaller amounts , I don't want to commit to a huge box of them just to find out I don't like the product, and I think it would be more environmental friendly to get them delivered with my weekly shopping than a separate delivery.

@EmailsaysOOO , Tesco ( and probably other super markets) use cardboard from their own shop and domestic waste paper to make their toilet rolls .
They use a plant in Manchester and one in Wales so very low mileage and jobs for the locals.
Now if they'd just stop wrapping them in plastic they'd be perfect.
