Why are Americans so bloody weird and religious?

I think it’s partly because American religion is much more visible in everyday life than it is here. Churches, pastors and faith can be a much bigger part of some communities, particularly in more conservative areas. That said, I wouldn’t say Americans in general are weird or religious, there’s a huge difference between regions and between people. Some of the films definitely make the most extreme examples look like they’re representative of everyone.

I thought a better question was, why isn’t coercive control a criminal offence in the US.

But if you lived in a normal town As a normal professional middle-class family that wasn't religious , would this be seen as strange?
