I have posted about this before its basically a repeat . But its going round and round in my head. And it feels worse than last time. Anyway anyone is welcome to roll their eyes or what ever i get it.

So same as last time really with the gas man when I didn't want to let him in. But this is an electricity check and had a message saying going to take 1hr 40 mins . I can't have someone in my house that long. Its not even like they will be in one place. At least with the gas man i could shut my away. But somone who's here for that long i can't. On top of that someone needs to check the solar panels. That same week I have to go to the doctor its to much all at once.

Have you got a trusted friend who can sit with you or come for a chat?

No I don't have friends. Well I have one. But i don't talk to her much. I also don't like people in my house. There's not really a solution.

Who dont you like in your house?

shellyleppard · 26/08/2026 22:07

@Whyohwhy99 did you let the gas man in??? I remember your post and how much you were struggling. If you found a solution then would the same thing work this time around?

do you have a pet? maybe a cat or something?

BlueBlueBerries · 26/08/2026 23:14

Maybe a tv show/ book/ film to distract?

BlueBlueBerries · 26/08/2026 23:14

Assuming the solar panel man will only need to be outside.

I had to in the end. I put myself in tje living room with the door closed and came in here. To distract myself.

The electricity wont be the same because it will he long amd not in just one area of the house.

Just think. Once he or she has been you will know that your house is safe electrically.

shellyleppard · 26/08/2026 23:25

@Whyohwhy99 can't you move to the room he's not in? Good luck x

Logically that's true. But I'm not logic.

That's a good idea.

whippersnapper55 · 27/08/2026 07:46

I'm so sorry you're struggling with this 😔 I think going in the garden could be a good compromise, weather permitting! Or could your landlord meet the electricity man at your house and you go out and leave them to it?

I would still stay in garden even if it rains. I wouldn't ask landlord to come it would mean a second person.

You have worked out a solution that works for you. Well done.

Please let people into your home.

It's 4am and I am currently sitting in the car waiting for the gas board to arrive because my carbon monoxide alarm woke me an hour ago. Luckily I heard it.

I hope your ok. It shows how important they are. I think its only been around 10 years, they have been law to fit in homes. I hope your ok and the gas people have been.

Yes the gas man has been. He's turned off the boiler and the incoming supply.

We have no hot water or heating (not that we need it here in the south west at the moment), as we will need to get a gas certified gas engineer to check the boiler internally, service it (or replace) and issue a new certificate.
