A sofa bed that looks nice and is comfortable both as a bed and a sofa

I sleep in the living room and 2 dc have a bedroom each (additional needs so can't change this). I am really struggling to find something comfortable to sleep on, sit on, and that also looks good and not like student accommodation.

I've tried a futon, 2 single beds arranged like a corner sofa, a click clack and an Ikea daybed but none have ticked every box. I'm really struggling with burnout, exhaustion, perimenopause and possible fibro so really need a good night's sleep 😴

I've been eyeing up a boneless couch but I suspect they lose their shape after a while.

I think a lot depends on budget.it really can be hard to get sthg tgat does both well . Hope yoi can find something it sounds v tough o

If you have the budget, you can get a wall bed with a sofa. The bed folds up against the wall when not in use, then is folded down over the sofa at night. We slept on one in a holiday apartment for a week, it was comfortable and had the benefit of not having to remove duvet/pillows from the bed before folding away

Sorry should have said I don't have much of a budget 😂

But I can search for second hand options once I uave an idea of what would be best.

A wall bed would be the dream!

I sleep on a sofa bed but its not very comfortable mine cost about £900 a lot.of money for me.

I had a click clack that was comfy but looked awful and eventually died. I think many sofabeds are made for occasional use rather than being put up and down every night.

Do you have space for a bed within the room plus the sofa? I slept on this bed that sort of inflated out of a suitcase type thing. It had legs so was normal bed height. I did put a topper on it but it was really comfy (better than my actual bed). I thought it’d be a nightmare to pack away but you plug it in and it sort of deflates folding the legs and frame as it goes.

I’ve got one from the Sofa Bed Expert and they are smart but comfy and have loads of storage for bedding. I’ve got a topper from Ikea which makes it extra comfy.
Theyre not cheap but do have offers and you might find a second hand one.

This would also be my suggestion but agreed on cushions and throws. Bolster cushions are good for sides.

We use the Hemnes Daybed from IKEA but we got the best mattresses that IKEA sell and then splashed out on a topper from Panda. The tipper is gel and memory foam and whilst it was expensive (about 200 quid for an EU King) it makes the bed genuinely comfy.

I'm following with interest as sane position. A lot have recommended the one futon sofa bed from the futon company

I think what you have to look for, if a day bed isn’t working, is a sofa bed with an actual full mattress rather than one of the thinner ones, and then potentially top with a mattress topper. We have a Loaf one which we could never have bought new but got it through a seconds/ex-display type place. But there will be other brands that have proper mattresses.

I and this one but different colour when I did similar and slept in the lounge. I am just about to sell it as now have a bedroom back!

Before sofa bed I also did a small mattress that I kept behind sofa. Not ideal but worked for me.

I’d prioritise a good mattress and a decent nights sleep over what it looks like. As others have said, a daybed with a good mattress might be the way to go. My experience is that you can have a beautiful sofa with a mattress that’s fine for occasional use, or an ugly sofa that makes a great bed. We had the Ikea Lycksele Murbo for a frequent (3 times a week) guest and they found it to be a comfortable bed. It’s not that comfy as a sofa though, and it doesn’t have arms.

Have you tried a really good topper? I have a futon sofa bed. Looks nice. Mattress is good but hard so have a really big thick topper ! Nice
