Hi all. Can social services help with food if you reach out to them and what would be the consequence of asking for help if you know what I mean.

I'm in a really low situation atm and after sending my kids to school this morning ive no more food for them until I get paid on Thursday. This month's been so expensive with school uniforms etc ive got nothing left. I'm petrified of contacting social work but st this moment in time I am absolutely desperate I myself haven't eaten since yesterday but I need to sort the kids out. My eldest has disabilities and issues around food as it is shes hardly eaten a thing.

Sorry that turned longer than I planned. Also just to say im not begging for anything I just haven't ever been in this situation before after leaving a bad relationship ive always Just got by but this last few weeks have drained me. I just need some practical help and advice as I have no1 in real life other than the kids

Reach out to the school. They should be able to help you get a food back voucher.

They might also be able to offer breakfast club for the children.
I'm sure they will help with uniform too going forward.

Good luck. Hope things look up for you soon.
X

They can refer you to a food bank.

around me (some) churches have food in their porches that is free to take. There may also be a community larder near you

Are there any food banks near you?

The school might be able to help, or try Citizens Advice.

Hello there, firstly I'm sorry you have had a really bad month.
So now, a quick look on a community Facebook page or a call to a local church should hopefully direct you to the nearest food bank.
I don't know where you live but our village has a food bank run by a friend of mine. Call her and she meets you there and you can "shop".
Churches, libraries, charity shops all have details.
God bless you and here's having a good supper tonight.

Yeah, I think I would in your case or try citizens advice or your local housing office.
We cannot afford our pride, as parents to feed ourselves/children.
Good luck honey
Ps
Let us know how you get on xx

find A local fb group and you can post anonymously asking for community pantries, food banks. I think the Olio App also has bits and bobs you can take free. (I’ve not used it in a while but I think that is how it works)

That sounds really tough, I’m sorry you are going through this. I would reach out to the school and see if they can help you e.g my school has its own foodbank. Some schools also have link agencies who can check you are receiving all benefits you are entitled too, there might not be anything else but always worth checking. Local churches may also be able to help.

So ive called social work and im awaiting a duty worker calling me back. I'm scared. Sounds stupid a 40 year old women but I am. I've sorted everything out for tomorrow onwards so im hoping they'll see ive tried everything I possibly can and not judge me too much.
