Day out in Glasgow. Any suggestions for a good day out.

Me and my two friends are planning on stopping off at Glasgow after having a few days in Edinburgh on Thursday.
We've never been before and will be there from about 11am until 7pm, then we will catch our train home.
Has anyone got some interesting ideas gor our day out so we dont just end up walking around aimlessly?

I really love the Burrell Collection. It is slightly out of Glasgow City Centre but you can get public transport or drive. Kelvingrove Museum is also a good call.

Take the underground to Byres Road, have a wander along that street and Ashton Lane, lots of nice cafes and shops. Head to Kelvingrove Art Galleries and Museum - the Barbie exhibition is on. Another nice place is the Botanic Gardens. Sugo is a Glasgow only pasta restaurant- amazing dishes - a new one has recently opened in Cresswell Lane. Hope it stays sunny for you!

I'd second the above suggestions. The organ is played at Kelvingrove most lunchtimes and it's impressive even if you are not a big classical music fan. The Hunterian Museum is good and there's a small but interesting museum in the Infirmary which is right next to the cathedral and you can walk up to the Necropolis from there which has great views over the city and an interesting history. There's also the Riverside Museum which is mainly transport related and a tall ship next to it.
Personally, I think that if you just have one day in a city you could do a lot worse than go on one of the hop on hop off bus tours as they do give you a taste of the place and you can go back to anything that really takes your interest. Oh, and I like the Botanical Gardens too.

There are lots of walking tours around the city, check getyourguide website to see what’s available for Thursday. Necropolis is a great one, but there are lots of architectural ones that we love and we live here. If nothing is available on your day then you can download self guided tours and enjoy the city that way. Maybe see all the graffiti walls and murals. Or go on the sightseeing bus and you can hop about for the day.

There are the museums and art galleries. There is tenement house is you want to see an old style tenement flat.

If you want activities then R-Cade down near Glasgow Green for an hour of retro video gaming with ice cream floats if you’re into that. Then a lovely walk around the green. Axe Throwing at Game of Throwing in the city centre is great fun. Or a flying lesson in the flight simulator at Glasgow science centre and then you can enjoy all the other stuff there too.

For a fun lunch maybe Sizzle Hotpot on Partick bridge street. But there are loads of food places so that’s a whole thread on it’s own!

As a must do, I recommend the boat rides on the Clyde. It really is a fun little activity. Only 20 minutes and you can enjoy the river Clyde

The Glasgow central station tour is another must do. It really is fascinating. I enjoyed it so much more than I thought I would. But availability is super limited and it might be too late. Definitely on the list if you ever come back though!

I'd stick to the West End as others have said - Botanics, Byres Road/Ashton Lane, Kelvingrove, the university all the nice restaurants in what they now call Finnieston (was just "that bit of Argyle St" back in the day).

Hi we had a great day! Lots of walking! We got 25000 steps in.
Initially a bit of shopping at places that we haven't got in our town, we had a river walk, we found cocktail bars, taps went to a couple of art galleries including Kelvingrove. The day went so fast!
