Affordable tablet recommendations for a 15-year-old needing one for school

I’m clueless about phones and tablets. No idea!
Can someone suggest a tablet I could get for my kid about to turn 15? His iPad has died, and I got that using air miles years ago. I don’t have the money for another one.

His birthday is in a few weeks, but I’d already bought his gifts so his birthday budget has been spent. He needs a tablet for school work, as they do everything on Google classroom, even when they’re at school they are often asked to log in using their phones or a tablet to see the notes and documents needed for the class that day, so I’m happy to spend a wee bit extra but not more than maybe £150/200. It is possible to get something decent for that?

My tablets have never cost me anymore than £200. Look at Android. I know the Samsung ones are pretty good. I've currently got a 5 year old Google Chromebook which is still going well

I can't help you op but this post really made me realise how terminology has changed, when I was a teenager asking for a tablet it would usually be the kind with a smiley face on

Thank you. Ive never used an android tablet but I assume it won’t be all that different from Apple. He’ll be able to do all the same stuff.

Try Backmarket for a refurbished one. I got DS an ipad from there and you wouldn't know it wasn't new. There are ipads for £200.

I’d get another iPad as they really are the best, Backmarket have great deals on second and refurbished models, I got my son one for homework and it was under £200

You won't notice the difference. DH bought a refurbished MacBook during COVID and it still runs like new now.

Yes, refurbished will be absolutely fine. My brother is a techie and recommends Backmarket. It is completely legit.

Honestly it looks brand new! I ended up buying iPhones from there too as they were pristine! I went for the ‘very good’ condition though

Cex is good for second hand too. They do a 12 month warranty and when I had an issue with a pre loved laptop 9 months down the line (battery) they offered me a refund or store credit for a different laptop and they’d transfer my files across for me.
