Where to go for a beach day trip SE?

We’ve got a very last minute day off and so I thought a trip to the seaside would be good, any suggestions please, we have two DS 18 and 15 who are just about ok with being dragged out! We live in London so SE would be good

What about Margate? Are you going by train. I love going there when we are on holiday.

We are SE London and did a day trip to Broadstairs last week. Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate, Whitstable all easy to drive or get the train to.

We did a trip to SouthSea last week and it was lovely!

Or Broadstairs is nice.

If you're near to St Pancras, you can get the High Speed train, otherwise Victoria.

There's the Thanet Loop bus service which runs between Mgate Bstairs and Rgate so you can take in more than one if you want. Just make sure you get it going coastwise, not the longer way round inland.

We’ll drive, we love Broadstairs but have been this year already, Margate is a great choice though, we haven’t been for a few years.
What about Folkestone or Deal? We’ve never been.

Folkestone is great - some really interesting shops and restaurants, and the harbour arm has a Champagne bar at the end of it! Good beach and lovely walks too.

Deal is lovely, it has a fab mini golf too (called Roman Landings)if they can be persuaded to play!

I like Deal too. Shingle beach, but it has a nice High Street and plenty of pubs, cafes and restaurants. It takes longer to get to, though. And Deal Castle, and Walmer Castle a bit further on.

I love Deal, but Harbour Arm in Folkestone is great fun so might be better for teenagers

Frinton is my favourite - lovely sandy beach, not commercialised at all and the fish and chips are amazing as is the ice cream. There’s grass at the top for some ball games and you can walk to Walton for the amusements if that’s your bag.
Even at low tide you can still get to some water for a dip, unlike Southend (unless you walk out to the Ray)
