I'm just considering getting dressed after a quiet couple of hours with boy cat. He's moved to watch out the conservatory doors now so now's my chance before he comes back again 🤣.

I've already sorted washing & put the machine on, folded the last of yesterday's washing, sorted tablets for the coming week, and put a few pots to soak. I'll wash them when I'm dressed, and have a quick scoot round the living room when I go there for my crochet.

Today's plan for me is much the same as yesterday - there is one section of what I want to be a veg bed still to be de-bindweeded so I'll get out and strip that back. It also contains an ornamental grass of some sort that I want to get a better look at. I'm fairly sure the middle section is dead. If it is, that bit can come out too & I'll take a small section for my dad to put in a pot. We're off for more weed membrane tomorrow morning so must get this done today.

After that, I've given myself a deadline of back to school to finish my crochet project so I'll crack on with that. Doesn't really matter but it feels like it's dragging on a bit.

I'm fairly sure the girls will continue watching Lucifer - I'll get dd1 to empty her small case of things she hasn't touched since being here, and probably didn't wear in London, so they can be washed and re-packed to go and be ignored for another year 🙄.

We'll have bangers and mash with onion gravy for tea...and peas. Dd1, who has never expressed a disliking for peas, decided to tell me she hates them last weekend 🤔. I really fancy peas so will do her something else or she can help cook, then she gets a say!

I'm looking forward to a few more chapters of my book this evening. It's much better than the last one I read - unfortunately the second in the series is not released until November 🙄, and the second in the last series I read is more expensive second hand than I paid for the first one brand new.

What about all of you? 🙂

Sounds like a nice day @lucysmam.

Im still in my lazy arsed bed, but am very hungry so need to get up...

Paradoes · 23/08/2026 10:16

I am starting a new job so i am going to clear out my wardrobe and see can I pull a few outfits together. I will put some music on. I have some washing to do, including a rug. Dh and ds have gone to mass.

I am making bbq pork chops and mash for dinner. I usually do beef or salmon but food has got expensive and I am trying to cut back a bit. I actually got these on a yellow sticker and put them straight into the freezer.

Good morning lucysmam and others. The sun has come out, so I will hang out washing shortly. I've had 2 coffees and 2 slices of toast. Then a trip to Aldi to stock up. I'm having a cuppa at the moment before hanging out the washing. Then I will make 2 lots of cookies for my grandsons; Nutella cookies and peanut butter cookies. Dd and the boys plan to call in at some point and I have an ironing to do. Dinner will be leftover curry. Enjoy your day

Good morning, well its afternoon here. Both the kids are at dance, I’ve taken the small one to hers so I’m waiting in reception for her, it isn’t worth going else where while I wait.

We’re going to have lunch out as a treat, there is a really good vegan buffet that we’ll to.

The chickens need a good clean so we’re all going to help with that when we get home.

Have a lovely sunday.

Bringyourfoldingchair · 23/08/2026 11:02

Morning all. I’m heading home from our caravan this today. So far I have sat in bed drinking 2 cups of coffee and ordering an Asda click and collect for later when we get home. I’m going to get up and have a tidy and start to think about packing up. Make some toast and take DS3 to the park. We’ll probably hit the road after lunch and then I’ll have to get the house sorted and get caught up on washing. dCat will probably have made a mess (my lovely mum has been letting her out and feeding her). I think I will make a roast chicken dinner later, but it will be late as not collecting the shop until 6pm. Will get get the boys all bathed and in pjs while it’s cooking and hopefully have a cosy night. The grass probably needs cut but that can wait until during the week on my lunch break. Have a great day all!

Feeling much better today, after whatever mysterious virus over-took me yesterday. Popped downstairs at about 8am to put the washing machine on, then back up to bed for another 30 minutes or so.
Experimented with the delay feature on the dishwasher - put it to come on in 2 hours, which it dutifully did. I've never used it before, but it occurred to me it might be useful for programming in the morning, to come back after work to it having just finished. Rather than turning it on in the evening and having to wait around for it.

For the first time ever, I ordered myself a delivery McDonalds for breakfast, via UberEats. In all these years, I've never done it. I just fancied one this morning, but didn't fancy going out for it. All very easy, and although it wasn't PIPING hot, it was fine.

Nothing much planned for the rest of the day. I need to look into renewing my home insurance - what a thrill. And I really do need to tackle the mounds of clean washing I've got scattered around the house!

Morning morning morning

Back at home after holiday - manky suitcase, humid, teen boy armpit, holiday laundry day hurray! Tumbled one last night, have washing line and tumble going here.

Cleverly booked in an online delivery which was delivered this morning- it’s a week (at least) of spice, garlic, garlic, more spice, all the good things in life after some amazing, but low on spice holiday food (all totally worth it).

Will wake teens midday if they don’t surface before.

Obviously what you need to do after a day of air travel is stay up until basically dawn binge watching the new Ted Lasso - I blame H he let me put it on.

Lucifer is one of those series tv was invented for!

So an adjustment pottering day here (after 2 weeks of doing loads, we are not sit round the pool holiday folk). The garden needs drenching.

Curry and dal tonight (obviously), brown rice, parathas, and relatively early night (we’ve ran out of Ted Lasso now AppleTV ration us to one a week which is probably for our own good).

Have a wonderful Sunday all.

Hi guys

been a while, hope you are all well..

Ive spent part of the morning editing and uploading videos for my new part time job. It works well around my family and is pretty flexible. Im now relaxing taking a bath before getting out and feed my sweet baby. Shes 4 months now.do you remember me updating you all when I was going into hospital. Its crazy how time flies 😳
Then im going to make lunch for the kids, simple chicken wraps.

We are going to do a quick housework run before playing some card and puzzle games together..we have a busy week ahead as summer holidays comes to an end. Been so busy with little one in hospital and surgery and preparing for the surgery that we haven't done much. She also gets very sick when weather is above 23 degrees outside so we cant go anywhere on those days anyway as with her condition it flares up. So we are planning a couple days out but as luck would have it, in my area there is only one sunny day this week to go to the farm and it's 25 degree so looks like replanning that again!!!!
I am also still house hunting so I've been looking online for a bigger house.
Tonight's dinner is a beef stew and a movie with chocolate icecream and cake before bed.

Also, to update exciting news is that my eldest has been discussing with his father and i wanting to marry his partner. Which im excited about. 😊 hopefully one weekend I can update you all on the ceremony !!!!

Morning @lucysmam

I am reading and doing little else all day. I’m a week in to 4 weeks off between jobs so pacing myself with chores, catching up with friends and having some days out.

I’m doing a bit of laundry and will walk the dog later but otherwise, hoping to spend most of the day sitting! DD is away for a few days and DH is planning some changes to our garden so he is in and out with a tape measure and there is much googling.

Probably some kind of chicken/noodle dinner.

DilemmaDelilah · 23/08/2026 11:36

Good morning @lucysmam and everyone.

Another busy morning for me! Luckily Mr Dilemma got up to look after Houdini this morning so I could have my breakfast at a reasonable time and in relative peace. So far:
A wash has gone on and is now in the tumble dryer
I have picked tomatoes and have ratatouille simmering. Houdini was quite keen on 'helping' me as he very much liked the little tomatoes we picked yesterday.
The leftover chicken from yesterday has been dismembered, the meat picked off and frozen and the bones, skin and yucky bits are simmering away to make stock

It is far-away daughter's birthday tomorrow so I am getting things ready for her celebratory birthday tea. She has chosen lasagne and then chocolate orange cake. The bolognese sauce is already made.
I have made the ganache for the cake and it is cooling
I have made the sponges and have just taken them out of the oven
I will make the cheese sauce after lunch when my back has recovered a bit, and I will assemble the lasagne once the cheese sauce has cooled. I don't mix cold Bolognese sauce with hot cheese sauce unless I'm cooking it immediately and I won't be cooking it until tomorrow afternoon. It will be a big one as there will be 8 of us and it's very popular.

I have also put a bookcase into Facebook for sale, cheap, and arranged to buy several pairs of grey shorts and trousers for when Houdini starts school in just a few weeks.

I'm still not dressed! I will have a rest after lunch and will get dressed properly when I get up to make the cheese sauce.

Far-away daughter and Houdini have gone out for a pub carvery with local daughter and her family. I will be having the rest of the vegetable curry I got out of the freezer yesterday, with a naan as I finished the leftover rice yesterday. I have no idea what Mr Dilemma will choose. He refuses to make a decision so now I don't ask him and leave him to sort himself out.

This evening far away daughter is going out with a friend and we are feeding Houdini and putting him to bed. We are having chunky fishfingers, chips and peas this evening, then I will, as I usually do, give Houdini a bath, help him brush his teeth, and read him a bedtime story from the 'Just So ' stories. Hopefully NOT the Elephant's Child AGAIN!

I doubt if I will still be up when far away daughter gets in this evening, although I don't think she will be late!

Thislittlekitten · 23/08/2026 16:00

Afternoon all

I was out last night so needed time to
recover this morning. DH made a big cooked breakfast brunch which was appreciated. DS and I have been to visit my parents and do some food shopping.

Im having a cup of tea just now then will tackle kitchen and ironing. I have some course work to do, want to fit in an hour. Gammon for DS and I for tea tonight the others are sorting themselves.

Dog will need a walk later and hopefully I can read my book.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 23/08/2026 16:08

I am now certified to be let loose with a power-boat!

Tiddlywinks63 · 23/08/2026 16:23

Good afternoon I forgot to look for you this morning @lucysmam 🙄
I’ve spent most of the day in the Shed, several hours of coloured pencils in my new colouring book from Kew, doing a piece of crewelwork and generally not doing much.
I think my surgery has caught up with me, I’m so tired. I definitely overdid it when I first came home so serves me right!
Crikey @TheeNotoriousPIG , that sounds exciting! Do you have one or is it something you hire as and when?
it must be very exhilarating!
It’s definitely autumnal here, a wonderful mellow warmth to the sun and a fresh tang to the air.
i fancy a nice bubble bath with a good book, the first for nearly three weeks. I’ll change my dressing too.
Have a lovely week x

Late to the party today.

Arrived home at 2am from our holiday. Older kids slept until Midday but the youngest slept from take off to landing so had a nice 4 hour nap and had me up at 9am. I didn't get to bed until gone 3am.

I've done 4 wash loads and still have more to go tomorrow. Cases need to be sent to my dad's for storage but i've managed to get everything unpacked and sorted. Food shop arrived earlier so it will be salmon, new potatoes and broccoli for dinner and an early night all round as I'm back to work tomorrow.

Thankfully I WFH as I am knackered. 2 weeks away with a teenager, pre teen and 8yo with SEN is not relaxing 😂 (as lovely as it was!)

SereneReader · 23/08/2026 18:12

Had a lovely lie in with the bed to myself as DH went to work at 6am!

Hung a long of laundry out, put bin out, tidied the kitchen. Then had lunch in the garden. Nipped to Waterstones to buy a book.

DH got home around 3pm, had a natter, then he went for a shower and is now playing Mi craft with younger DC.

Homemade meatballs for tea, then chilling for the evening.

TheeNotoriousPIG · 24/08/2026 10:10

@Tiddlywinks63 I am into watersports, and it was the only thing that available that I didn't have a qualification in! A lot of people questioned why on earth I was doing THAT, but you have to keep life interesting, and learning doesn't stop once you leave education. It was very fun and exhilarating... especially on a virtually empty, and very large, lake!

@TheeNotoriousPIG I am quite envious!
