Just me and dh taking them as no other help. Worrying a little about how we’re going to make everyone happy…
Any tips ?
Should say all are neurodivergent 😬 lol

Alton Towers presumably, unless Elton John has done a Dollywood. You may want to get your title changed OP.

Do you have RAPs sorted?

Oh fucks sake 😆 sorry what are raps?

RAPs are Ride Access Passes. They allow people who have difficulty queuing to spend the queue time elsewhere. There is a booking system though and you need evidence of the disability (neurodiversity is included, with the correct evidence).

If you didn’t know this, you’re probably too late to sort for today.

SixAndJuliet · 23/08/2026 06:05

I’m not sure this was the best idea but you’re going now so I would recommend…

Get there early at opening, walk with your 11 year old to the ride they most want to go on (presuming 13/Rita/Nemesis/Smiler. Queues should be shortest at this time and they will able able to get on with out much delay. Then maybe try and get them on a second whilst you wait nearby.

Then between you decide what you want to do. I guess CBeebies land.

Yes I didn’t know, it’s not often we go out to places like this, but thank you as I know now for next time. We have purchased x2 bronze fast passes for ds and one of us, so hopefully that eases it a little.

I was wondering is it best to go straight to a bigger ride first. Worrying a little about the queue times and impatient toddlers

Oh! I’ve just realised your DH is going too. I misread and thought it was just you, a toddler and an 11 year old.

You’ll be fine, just take it turns to occupy the toddler with little kids stuff whilst the other takes the older one on the more adventurous rides.

If the queues are massive, you can buy a fast pass for the day or an individual fast pass for individual rides if you are not coping well with the queues.

Have a great time. We went a couple of days ago, it was brilliant.

I have no idea how that gif got in my post or what it is 🫣😭

JustLookingThanks · 23/08/2026 06:32

It's also a reasonable length drive to the carpark and a walk from the carpark to the ticket barrier so allow extra journey time. If you get there as early as possible then you should park closer to the entrance so less far to wrangle toddlers to and from the gate. Make sure you and your husband have a location app on so that you can find eachother!
Have a lovely day.

KatieKat88 · 23/08/2026 06:33

Divide and conquer - one adult with the 13yo, one with the toddler. The Bluey ride will be the longest queue for Cbeebies I'd expect, so head there first. The Hey Duggee playground is lovely, especially when you don't want to queue for a bit!

We have been to AT this year for the first time and loved it so much we returned a week later. The young ones loved CBeebies land and we spent most of our time in there except the 7 year old wanted to go to David Walliams world so we did they enjoyed it there.
Take food and drinks as we didn't really like the food although the CBeebies land cafe was the best it was limited - obviously depending on tastes.
I would split up if you can and meet up for food.
If the older child is going for the big rides that's where you need to be. You will waste the day trying to please everyone together.
Obviously if the adults are wanting to go on big rides you may have to stay together to please everyone.
Sealife was good for a break.
There was enough in CBeebies land for the young ones.
We asked for wristbands for the height of the little ones as some rides it's one adult per child height dependent and I think it's 90cm plus and 1 metre plus.
In CBeebies land we spent ages in Hey Dugee play area which they enjoyed and we stayed till the end as the queues are shorter later in the day too.
The bluey ride the 7 and 4 year old could sit next to each other and DH sat with the 2 year old. We saved Justin's house for the end as it over stimulated them and over exerted but they loved it. Also Jo Jo and Gran Gran's house some how over stimulated them!
Use the mono rail from the car park for CBeebies land
. But most of the big rides are at the start of the mono rail queue so better going in at the bottom entrance for nemesis etc. but a trek for toddlers if you do.
Have a great day most importantly.

DarkForces · 23/08/2026 06:51

Divide and conquer. One of you focus on ds and the other on toddlers. I'd spend time exploring the gardens and lands as well as CBeebies land with toddlers while other parent takes ds to bigger rides until he gets bored queuing.

Luddite26 · 23/08/2026 06:56

Don't set off late. Don't underestimate the queue into the car park. It's not in the most convenient spots to get into.

Not all neuro divergent people are eligible for RAPs.

Yes I know that. The OP wasn’t specific, so I just mentioned it in case they were eligible and had RAPs sorted.

CarolBrownsBus · 23/08/2026 07:32

We’ve just come back from Alton Towers and found the app so useful. On the queues section, it provides live wait times for every ride and if you allow location access, tells you how far you’ll need to walk for each ride. I was expecting horrendous queues but I think the longest we waited was 55 minutes.

Have an amazing day!!

jimmyateworld · 23/08/2026 11:14

Thanks all. Just got inside, queues were all the way through Alton 🤦‍♀️

How did it go @jimmyateworld ? Hope you all enjoyed your day! Have you any tips to pass on? I looked on here when we were going to embark on our visit!

itsgettingweird · 24/08/2026 12:23

I hope you had a good day.

Not sure where you were travelling from but if you’ve gone northwards towards Alton Roberson would suggest trying southwards and Paultons park another time. Great shirt queues. Very limited RAPs so the system actually works, large rides and peppa pig world for the littlies.

Sorry I don't really understand what you mean what are RAPs and Paulton's Park? Where is Peppa Pig World. I've only been twice so any advice welcome too.

The RAP (ride access passes) are limited so they work for the people that need them and keep the general
queues short.

Paultons park is a theme park near Southampton that has a peppa pig world for younger visitors.

very underrated compared to the bigger Merlin parks but far superior imo.

Thankyou. Totally see what you've put now. I thought I was missing something in Staffordshire.😄

Hi! We had a good day thank you, queues were insane though, as expected but even for the CBeebies rides you were waiting over an hour 😫 just torture with toddlers !

I’ve seriously strained my shoulder from nemesis also, and my son lost his glasses on Rita but luckily someone had them further up the ride 😆 great day though !

My tip would be to get fast track, seriously you won’t get on hardly anything otherwise and will be standing round all day.
