Anyone have any advice for a new kitten and older cat? We did the research but I’m struggling with the reality. It gets better right? Any tips from other cat lovers?

What is the reality? What is happening between them? When did kitten arrive?

Where is the kitteh tax OP?
I have a 16 year old and a 4 year old. I had the kitten from 3 months old.
The older cat hated her. A year later and they are best friends and chasing each other all over the house. They were doing it this morning.
It just takes time that's all. The black one is the younger cat.

Ask for this to go in 'The litter tray' - you'll get good advice there.
And - what specifically is the problem?

He’s hissing and staring. He seems to get on with the cats in the area so I was quit confident. Feel bad for both of them. But my dream is your picture!

A year between them. Just keeping them separate at the minute. Kitten is 10 weeks and my boy is a year.

They'll be fine. They eventually get sick of the aggro. They are cats 9 and 10 so Ive had a few over the years.

Mine never moved beyond tolerance at best and angry at worst. He was delighted when the kitten was run over 3 years later.

Give them a bit of time. They’ll be fine. Animals usually work it out. Hissing is because they’re afraid, so it’s a warning to keep away. It will settle down.

Awww my cats did this when we bought a new kitten home. Give them time and they'll adapt, I use a Feliway plug in which helps to calm them. It usually takes a couple of weeks for things to settle, but they'll soon be best buddies, try playing with them both and feeding them a few treats, that should break the ice :).

Thankyou! Im getting a pet pen today so they can be around each other more. Hopefully he’ll realise kitten is here to stay.
