Why are toys so ugly these days?

Am I just too old? Not for the first time I have been feeling rather appalled by the way childrens toys are seemingly getting uglier and uglier. I mean, dolls can be pretty creapy, but Fuggstars - I mean WTF?

And their teeth are hard, and big and shaped like human teeth. Just revolting 🤢.

As soon as I read the title, I was thinking of these!
I like them, and got myself a little bat one a while back.
