when do you do it?

We have lots of things from previous years but I’ve bought a couple of new things from Next. My friend makes autumn wreaths from leaves, twigs berries etc which are always lovely.

I’m looking forward to Autumn as it’s my favourite season and usually decorate in the first or second week of September. 🍂

Doing mine mid September. Still have sunflowers blooming and think Autumn decorations may look odd alongside sunflowers!

They will probably be all gone by 15-20 September.

1st September is the beginning of the meteorological Autumn, but it still feels like summer somehow. It feels more Autumn-like several weeks later.

i get decorating with twigs etc but how else do people decorate for Autumn?

Cushion covers that have pictures of - raven, skull, writings ( nicer than they sound)
Candles ( LED) big chunky ones in vases
I do put up a Christmas Wreath and an Easter one at appropriate t8mes so an Autumn one sounds nice

We use lots of natural things like pine cones, twigs etc, and autumn themed centrepiece on our dining and kitchen tables, change throws/blankets for ones which are autumnal coloured, put up autumn themed outdoor lights, cushions, garland, pumpkin spice candles, a few pumpkin and acorn ornaments. A friend bought us some lovely bedding a few years ago with acorns and leaves on which will go on the bed soon. And the pumpkin and acorn mugs come out in September too.

I'm going to look out for a tall lantern to go in the hall once DH has decorated. Either LED candle and/ or some of those battery rice lights depending on what will look nicer .

I put my pumpkin tea light holders out at the beginning of October.

Have you not been to a shop this time of year?

I don't decorate but do the mug swap just before the Harvest moon.

Here in Canada Fall Fairs start the last week of August, and go through the end of September, so anywhere in that time frame works for me.
This weekend I will start my vine wreaths, and gather my acorns and pine cones for spice bowls

The only shop I’ve been to this month is independent gift shops & supermarkets. I dont tend to hang out much in shops & largely shop online when I need something.

My DS has a part-time job in Aldi and came home with a massive pumpkin spice candle for me in Friday, so I guess that means I've started! I don't go all-out, though, and not really until the equinox, apart from my big acorn cushion which has been out all year because it's too cute to put away.

I gather most of my decorations on walks and in the garden so they get gradually more autumnal as September turns into October. I get my autumn candle holders and throws out by the autumn equinox and the bowls of conkers and acorns start to form along with things I've gathered in to store like seed pods , rosehips, squashes, cooking apples. I like having vases of dried seeds heads and grasses through autumn then switch them out for evergreens for the winter solstice.

I’ve already started! We are a goth house though so in fairness it always looks a bit like it’s Halloween 🎃. My autumnal wreath is up and my pumpkin decorations are out and I’ve swapped my coffee jars for my Halloween ones.

I have never decorated but have found some pumpkin spice and vanilla candles in Primark which I love.

Our pumpkins are growing well in the garden, two are spread over the lawn, though watering them was a bit wearing with the hosepipe ban, I kept having to go out with the old washing up water

All the supermarkets are filled with autumn stuff.

I’m tempted by 1st September but usually try and wait until the Equinox on the 23rd. I don’t have loads of things, mostly natural bits and pieces, seasonal candles, a couple of Jellycats (conker and acorn) and a cuddly pumpkin 🎃

my local ones aren’t & my big Sainsbury’s had all the back to school stuff out by the entrance. If it’s stuff like cushions that would be in the home section which I don’t go to.

Not seen anything in Waitrose either

@IronEverything I have just gone on to the sainsbury’s & Waitrose online sites and typed in Autumn and there really isn’t a lot of stuff coming up 🤷🏻‍♀️

Neighbour still has summer wreath up.

If I had energy/time etc, I'd go for mid September to beginning of October. I think I'd want to hang on for that last little bit of summer. I think it is a lovely idea though.

Thanks. I think I’m going to put everything up on September 1st. I’m so glad the heat seems to be over here.

Mid September/October . I know temps have cooled but I think before late summer bank holiday is just wrong!
