Can someone block you on WhatsApp and you can still see their profile pic?

Just a bit perplexed that an old friend (although romantic history between us 20+ years ago) seems to have blocked me. Messages aren’t being delivered but have one tick ☹️ Wondering if I’ve been blocked for some reason.

They could have unistalled whatsapp or be having phone problems. Have you tried messaging them on normal text messaging or calling them and see if you get a response?

No I haven’t. I didn’t want to intrude if they have indeed blocked me.

Yes I see what you mean and I'd feel the same. It's like I'd want to find out for sure but then not look like I'm chasing them. Give it a few days and see if the messages deliver.

You wouldn't see their profile pic if you were blocked. There are a few reasons for messages not to go through but if it has been a couple of days, they most likely have deleted the app.
