A very old friend is on holiday in Florida.

The kind of friend you've known forever, don't see very often but when you do it feels like no time at all.

She's been posting daily about all the parks they've been to, along with a few moans about the heat and how expensive things are.

They have one DD and do this trip most years.

On today's post she's moaned about the cost of one specific thing and said "this is why the trip costs £20k every year"

Why would you do that?

Fwiw I have no clue what a Florida trip costs.

Because it's a brag post. "Look at me and all the money I have!" I would delete them or unfollow.

do you mean the fact they said it so are bragging? or that they're spending it?

I don't care what they spend and obviously the holiday is an expensive one, although I wouldn't have guessed that much, but to be complaining about 'having' to spend £20k on a holiday?

It probably would influence my opinion. I’d think that they must be very boring and have little imagination if they have £20k to spend on holidays every year but keep going back to Florida. I love an Orlando holiday (or at least I
did before I stopped wanting to go a country led by the orange), but the world is full of too many amazing places to want to go no there every year.

bitontheobtuse · 19/08/2026 19:20

£20k is more than some people's annual income.

I wouldn't look kindly on someone who enjoys that level of bragging.

Queenncat · 19/08/2026 19:24

Surely it was just a flippant comment. If someone has 20k a year to spend on a holiday, they probably don't think about it too much. Nor about 'bragging', it's just the way their life is. Move on?

Mumtobabyhavoc · 19/08/2026 20:02

Maybe she's wealthy?
A bit of a braggart?
Not good with money?
Or, a bit of an idiot for holidaying in the US?

Whosthetabbynow · 19/08/2026 20:21

She really REALLY wants people to know what she can afford. Tacky.
