Men only gym

Slightyamusedandsilly · 19/08/2026 14:26

Proverbs 21.17 Men Only Gym (Oklahoma). To help men avoid the temptation of lust. Which in itself is pathetic.

What's the betting it turns into a gay gym with a sauna / shower room 'fun shack' completely undermining the intention 😂😂😂?

See, I don’t think this is particularly fair. Deep down, men are wired to rut like farm animals, just as women are wired to pop out as many babies as they can. We know this, because they continue to have babies in the most dire circumstances, when logic would tell them otherwise.

I’m not sure i agree with this part about women. In countries where women have economic power and easy access to contraception the birth rate is pretty low, it’s actually a point of concern for policy makers. governments are even having to promote reproduction because when women have power they stop popping out babies.

you may be right about men though…

I was referring more to women who frequently post here about having children with useless/uninterested/downright abusive men, or having one last baby when they can’t really afford it. They just can’t seem to help themselves.

A men-only gym? Christ, I bet that needs the windows opened afterwards.

Women don't smell like roses after a workout...

pendatea · 19/08/2026 20:12

The avoiding temptation aspect is a bit lame but I can see why some men might prefer a single sex gym just as some women might.

So women must suffer and be excluded from life just cos men can’t keep it in their pants? How about men try to hold themselves to a higher moral bar than rutting farm animals?

To be fair they're not excluding women from life, are they? Just from that gym.

LlynTegid · 19/08/2026 20:22

I can get the appeal of single sex gyms, be they men only or women only.

HenriettaHippopotamus · 19/08/2026 20:33

I’d like to go to a women-only gym although my exercise classes tend to be already all women.

I think it’s perfectly natural to like female or male only spaces and not be weird about the other sex.

What's wrong with men only gyms? I think they're a good idea, provided women have the same opportunities.

Woman don’t have the same opportunities though because ‘women’ means women and men in dresses.
Women want their own spaces but Men don’t allow women to have their own spaces but they do feel entitled to their own.

They don't smell like sweaty jockstraps though, do they?

FookFookFook · 20/08/2026 10:47

There are hundreds of videos posted by women on Instagram of perfectly innocent men who have glanced their way in the gym and then been accused of inappropriately staring or perving or whatever when they have done absolutely nothing of the sort. I can understand why some men might like men only gyms to avoid that kind of accusation to be honest.

that's literally what the founder of that specific men only gym said. Because he, a married man, had an affair with a woman in his previous gym. Obviously gym was the problem..

If you only stay faithful because you have no opportunities, you're not a faithful man, you're a cheater who didn't get the chance.

Fucking hell. Can anyone win in your world?

WildGarlicSoup · 19/08/2026 14:41

There are men only gyms in London. I expect there are men only gyms all over the world.

If this were a women only gym, you'd be applauding it 'cos 'no dirty men'!

I suspect this thread will not go in the direction you'd like it to (I hope).

It's more the 'help men avoid lust' factor I was LOLing at actually. The implication that they can't control themselves at all.

I do not advocate for women only settings actually. While I'm a raving feminist, I think men should aspire to be the equal of women. Controlling their lust should be part and parcel of being an adult human.

Mocking a male gym as being some sort of gay fest is incredibly immature. The use of emojis underlines that too.

Waitingfordoggo · 20/08/2026 11:01

I’m very happy for men to have their own men-only spaces; as long as women in the same locations also have access to women-only spaces (for actual women, not anyone who ‘identifies’ as one).

Exactly!

It's a bloke saying 'Oh, since we can't control ourselves...' WTF? It's pathetic.

Maybe if their urges are SO uncontrollable, they should with quarantined away from women?

I think the religious/avoiding lust angle is nonsense, but they’re still entitled to have a men-only space, whatever their reasons are for wanting it.

Agree. Men only? Fine. Men can't control their lust? Pathetic.

It is silly and a big assumption that all men are at the gym to 'lust' at women. Actually, some women lust at men at the gym. I have a friend who married an older women who had been admiring him at the gym. She eventually left a note on his car! They've very happily married with a family now.

Ah but that's nice fancying. Not just 'Whoooor, can't control my penis!'.

What about women only gyms? Pretty sure they haven't turned us all into lesbians? What's your point

Yes, they have used the word 'lust' (or someone has). As with most things, there is a lot of nuance in these situations and the words used make a difference.

WerewolfOfLoudon · 20/08/2026 11:50

Best place for men who can't control their lust absolutely is a male only gym IMO No chance of them sexually assaulting women there @Slightyamusedandsilly.

We don't have single sex gyms here at all, there are some time slots that are for specific groups but we do at least have single sex changing rooms for them. In spite of the local TIA+ group trying to demand access to the wrong sex facilities, they are enforced.
