Men only gym

Slightyamusedandsilly · 19/08/2026 14:26

Proverbs 21.17 Men Only Gym (Oklahoma). To help men avoid the temptation of lust. Which in itself is pathetic.

What's the betting it turns into a gay gym with a sauna / shower room 'fun shack' completely undermining the intention 😂😂😂?

What? Men don’t want women in men’s spaces?

WildGarlicSoup · 19/08/2026 14:41

There are men only gyms in London. I expect there are men only gyms all over the world.

If this were a women only gym, you'd be applauding it 'cos 'no dirty men'!

I suspect this thread will not go in the direction you'd like it to (I hope).

UniquePinkSwan · 19/08/2026 14:44

So what’s your take on the women only gym near me then?

Crazycockerpoo · 19/08/2026 14:46

Try being a vulnerable woman on a postnatal ward, recovering from having a baby, bleeding and trying to establish breast feeding with a man sleeping with only a curtain between you...

And men think THEY have problems...

FeliciaFancybottom · 19/08/2026 14:49

Are women only gyms full of 'lesbian fun time'? Is there a room to have pillow fights in your bra and panties?

I would like a woman only gym

I wish I had one nearby.

Women want women only gyms to avoid creepy men and men want men only gyms to avoid the temptation of lusting after women.

Redredrumdedrum · 19/08/2026 15:01

I'd love a women-only gym. Men take up so much space when they do weights and really dominate the atmosphere. Let them have their own gym, I say.

Jesus Christ…

blacksax · 19/08/2026 15:03

A men-only gym? Christ, I bet that needs the windows opened afterwards.

HeidiLite · 19/08/2026 15:05

UniquePinkSwan · 19/08/2026 15:02

Jesus Christ…

that's literally what the founder of that specific men only gym said. Because he, a married man, had an affair with a woman in his previous gym. Obviously gym was the problem..

If you only stay faithful because you have no opportunities, you're not a faithful man, you're a cheater who didn't get the chance.

WallaceinAnderland · 19/08/2026 15:05

What's wrong with men only gyms? I think they're a good idea, provided women have the same opportunities.

They do. There are loads of them. I have one near me. Nothing wrong with men wanting the same

Or they want men only to stop being blamed so much.

I'm not sure there are men only gyms in London. There are definitely men only saunas, which sometimes also have a gym............but exercise may not be the reason men go

That's not what the men have said. They said they wanted it so they can avoid temptation, not lust after women and to remain faithful to their wives.

mindutopia · 19/08/2026 15:56

Having many gay friends, I can say with almost certainty that ‘men only gym’ is code for hookups are not discouraged here. Quite a bit of sex happens in men’s locker rooms in normal gyms. If this is really in Oklahoma (the Bible Belt 🙄), you can absolutely be sure that the pilates classes are not the main thing on offer. 😂

So women must suffer and be excluded from life just cos men can’t keep it in their pants? How about men try to hold themselves to a higher moral bar than rutting farm animals?

ParsleySageToiletDuckAndBinBags · 19/08/2026 16:03

So would you prefer the men who have acknowledged that they have a personal weakness in this way and feel more comfortable when there are no women there to go to a mixed gym and feel guilty about perving over and maybe harassing women; or just for them to do so anyway but not feel bad about it?

It's a very odd take to mock and object to men who are actively seeking NOT to be sex pests. Note that they are taking the decision to restrict and control their own behaviour; rather than trying to force women to change theirs for their (the men's) benefit.

Pistachiocake · 19/08/2026 16:06

All the men at my gym (gay or heterosexual) seem to manage fine in a place that welcomes everyone, and it's much better not to have segregation! Married couples should be able to exercise together, and it's great to have friend groups that are mixed sex. I make sure my son and daughter do mixed group activities so they don't ever view the opposite sex as "weird" or think they shouldn't socialise together; when we did have separate schools/pools etc, it was women who tended to suffer more; there's less sexism when society encourages everyone to mix. I suppose I've got some sympathy with men wanting to start their own group if they've been accused of staring at women or whatever, but I hate the idea of segregation whether it's skin colour/sex or whatever.

See, I don’t think this is particularly fair. Deep down, men are wired to rut like farm animals, just as women are wired to pop out as many babies as they can. We know this, because they continue to have babies in the most dire circumstances, when logic would tell them otherwise.

How are women suffering or being excluded when there are plenty of women-only and mixed gyms available for them? This just reminds me of the "they want to stop me from using public toilets and become invisible" brigade, when they just don't want to have to use the appropriate ones.

user293948849167 · 19/08/2026 16:10

I have no problem with men only gyms at all (yes the “lust” angle is pathetic but whatever) as long as women are allowed the same, and that the women’s ones remain as actual women only.

I would be more likely to go to a women only gym tbh

Are you also against girls' schools - even though studies show that girls do better at single-sex schools, and there's no shortage of mixed schools available too?

I don’t see this as segregation though, nobody is saying all the gyms have to be single sex, just this particular one is. That’s fine nobody has to go to a single sex gym but if they want to it’s there
