Perimenopause or the heatwave causing hot and sweaty spells lately?

I’m 45 and I’m definitely well into peri, but not flushes is not something I’ve suffered with. But for the last month or so I have been really struggling to regulate my body temperature and getting waves of feeling hot and sweaty. I know we’ve been in a heatwave so I don’t know whether it’s that or if I do now have hot flushes.

Anyone else been struggling with the same thing lately? I guess I’ll get my answer to what’s going on when the weather cools down!

I used to get hot flushes before HRT but although I got many a day, I was always caught out by 'the feeling of doom.' I would get this 'mood/feeling?' wash over me like evrything was wrong in the world the I would start to get hotter, and hotter, and hotter until I couldn't bear it anymore and it would break and I'd suddenly be covered in sweat everywhere. I don't know if that's typical?! (Knowing me, not. 😅)
Are you taking any medication? Some medications can cause you to not be able to regulate your temperature. Also, do you have any other symptoms? I also have an overactive thyroid which causes the same. I'm so fed up of being a hot sweaty mess! 😅
I hope you manage to get too the bottom of it and get some relief.

I'm similar, a tad older, periods still regular but the slightest exercise or increase in heat leads to a sweaty mess and it takes forever to cool down, it's not a quick hot flush it's just something will make me hot but it feels like I'm hotter than everyone else in the room for quite a while!

I’m 44 and have been noticing the same, especially after food or hot drinks. I’m also breastfeeding an 18m old so no idea what kind of hormones are at play! It’s horrid though…

I’m in my early fifties and can relate to this. For me, hot flushes are more like sweaty flushes. It often happens several times a day for a few days up to a week or so and then goes away for a few weeks. I still have periods albeit irregular now. It sounds weird but I can often smell a sweaty flush coming on too - like a fresh sweat smell, not B.O. but just moist and humid.

Same here. I’m a few years older than you, and earlier this year I was already starting to get some hot flushes I think – but since the heatwaves started this summer I’ve really struggled. When it comes on, for me it’s almost a similar feeling to being ill and having a temperature. I break out in sweat especially on my chest. I’m interested to find out whether it will ease a bit in autumn and winter.

Yes, I'm 56 and haven't had a period since Easter. Since the start of the hot spell i've been having flushes for the first time. I'm hot already then all of a sudden I'm hotter with sweat pouring off me, clothes wet through, rivers running down my face.

Really hoping they disappear as fast as they arrived when it gets cooler
