An insurance question please!

I damaged my phone on holiday.
If the insurance covers it I'll get it repaired. But if not frankly it's not worth it and I may as well get a new one.
Nothing on the policy says phones are excluded but they don't say explicitly included either.

I've tried calling but can't get through to a person.

Can I ask about a claim before I make it?!

My phone insurers ask you to send the phone in for repair (after you've paid the excess) and if they can't repair it they replace it with a new phone the same as what you have (or the equivalent).

You can absolutely ring and check what's covered first though before invoking any claim process.

Presumably from your question you aren't asking about a phone insurance policy, do you mean your home or travel insurance?

I don't think either would cover a phone but why wouldnt you be allowed to phone and ask them?

JustAQuestion12 · 18/08/2026 18:16

Sorry yes it's travel insurance.
I can't get through to a human, I just get bounced around options

It would normally be covered via house insurance for accidental damage , I’d imagine theft only on travel insurance

JustAQuestion12 · 18/08/2026 18:19

The policy says any damage to all baggage which could mean phones or not
Just wish I could speak to a person!

Unless you picked gadget cover its unlikely to be covered by travel insurance. Especially if its not stated as included in your t&cs.

Might be covered by your home insurance if you have cover outside the home.

That doesnt mean phones.

How much was your travel insurance? It's extremely unlikely to cover a phone unless you've paid a lot, think about how much an individual phone policy costs

JustAQuestion12 · 18/08/2026 18:26

It comes with DH's banking

It's not very premier of they don't answer the phone 😁

Obviously you'd need to check the exact policy you have but actually the one on their website for the premier account does include phones under valuables

Check with them as there seems to be more than one policy variation but if you were to open one of those accounts today you'd get phone cover by the look of it
