Is Glasgow a safe place to live?

My DD has recently moved to Glasgow for a job. She is shocked at how rough it seems, and there is a programme on iplayer which is on later tonight on player about Glasgow which was filmed recently. It's really shocking. She is living alone in a not particularly nice area and I am really worried. For people who have experience of Glasgow, please tell me your thoughts.

@GoodnessGraciousMeh

How long has your dd been in the property / how long is her tenancy / is she concerned about living there ? would she like to move.

As I am sure we could all make suggestions about where to live / rental properties that she could look it.

For example as I had a spare 5 mins, I did a ' Rightmove ' search for where I was born / brought up and there are one or two properties I would be happy with if my dd were renting in Glasgow.

She has only just moved there. She needs to move flats because she can't afford the rent on her own anyway. She wants to live in a nicer part but finding a flat she can afford in a nicer area will be hard. There is a 28 day notice period by law in Scotland.

If you could share a rough budget, those of us who are local would be glad to give our 2p worth.

Could she commute from a nice suburb on the train line? Giffnock? Bishopbriggs? Clarkston? I’m out of touch but others may have suggestions

Giffnock / Bishopbriggs / Clarkston = very good schools so very expensive housing. They’re also not really areas for young singletons. Maybe Shawlands and cheaper environs, Dennistoun, nicer bits of Scotstoun / Maryhill? But tbh if Tollcross is what is affordable these places may not be. it’ll be fine.

Glasgow has wonderful access to The Great Outdoors. Loch Lomond is so close!

And just about two hours to Argyle, Glencoe... Oh he will have a ball!
