Or wait and see if they come down in price? Advice please!

I booked on release date last year….they came down by £££ in the Christmas sale. I was happy with the price I paid but it still stung a bit.

Depends, how peak are the dates you need to travel? Are they set in stone?

If booking for Christmas / Thanksgiving / very first weekend of UK school holidays, they might not go down again.

In my experience, 90% of US-bound flights end up being cheapest at the 3-4 month mark. Especially if you are flexible with dates and don’t mind flying a day or two earlier / later.

Thank you both, we are going towards the end of June and returning mid July

We’ve decided to hold off for a bit and see what Black Friday/Christmas brings

I’d never book that far in advance. 3 ish months is when I’d start looking.

There is a website, that I unhelpfully can't remember the name of right now, that will tell you how the current flight price compares to previous years and the likelihood of them going up or down. If you Google you will find it

catchingzzzeds · 20/08/2026 21:24

Thank you, I’m not sure why but I’ve always been under the impression that the earlier you book the cheaper the ticket.
I’ll report back when we’ve booked

You can also set a google flight alert and it will notify you every time the price changes. You can do that to a flight that’s 4-5 months out too, to see how it behaves.

Definitely. We were meant to be going in October but the flights are still so expensive due to the war😞
