Ugh, been awake since 3.40 after going to sleep at 11.30. No idea why I can’t sleep. Mind is totally racing and I’m wide awake. We’re flying on holiday today. I’m going to feel terrible aren’t I?! Is there any point I. Troy to get an extra hour in? I’ve literally benn lying in bed trying to sleep for the last few hours.

Excitement! Where you off to? Ive been up a while too with a long day at work ahead..swap? 😂..enjoy your holidays x

Probably that. Isn’t it weird, I don’t feel particularly excited (as in I’m not really thinking about it). You’re right though, at least it’s a holiday awaiting. Good luck with work!

I think everyone's like that before a holiday, it's the anticipation. You can try and nap on the plane. What time do you have to be at the airport?

Pappybear · 17/08/2026 06:12

Need to be there at 11 so I could squeeze in another hours sleep but I just can’t!!!

I’m the same, flight not till 12:30 but been awake since 4:30 so annoying

Pappybear · 17/08/2026 06:17

So annoying @lisaloo88 . Some comfort knowing I’m not the only one though. Just annoying knowing I’m going to arrive and feel totally wiped out.

@Pappybearit’s my 6 months olds first time on a plane as well and I’m taking her and the older 2, I just need to survive the day!

Pappybear · 17/08/2026 06:23

Oof, i don’t envy you with that. Good luck! Hopefully they’ll sleep on the plane.

I’m always the same, although I would have been in bed much earlier!!

Have a great time.

Pappybear · 17/08/2026 06:40

I wish I had gone to sleep earlier but just had too much to sort. I’ve got up now and am having a cup of tea. 🥱

I was so excited to go on my first holiday in years recently. Had about 3 hours sleep the night before but I was fine. The adrenaline will get you through. Enjoy it!

Johnogroats · 17/08/2026 06:58

We drove home from europe yesterday. Had to leave at 5 and alarm set for 4.30. So I woke up at 3.30 🙄. Hope you sleep on the flight OP.

JulietteHasAGun · 17/08/2026 07:09

I did a flight the other week where I had to get up at 1:30 am. If the choice had been mine I’d have slept in a hotel near the airport before but there was a big group of us going. So went to bed at 10pm, maybe asleep at 11pm. So 2.5 hours sleep. Didn’t sleep on the plane. Think I stayed up until about 9pm! Didn’t feel to bad surprisingly.

I get this OP, been awake since 3 and don't need to leave for our ferry until 10. I think it's stress for me - I hate the packing and travelling stage, especially with 2 young kids. We loaded the car last night so it's just throwing the last few bits in the car but it's the knowing it's going to be a really long day, then another drive tomorrow.

JustAnotherDayWorkingAtHome · 17/08/2026 07:22

Sleep on plane. I always do that. How long is the flight?

Pappybear · 17/08/2026 07:30

Reassuring to hear @JulietteHasAGun !

Think the thing that is so annoying is I could have had a solid 8 hours. I didn’t NEED to have 4. I’ll just have to grit my teeth and hope my adrenaline sees me through.
