Decorating bedroom for 7 year old boy

We will be decorating my son's bedroom and hoping for some ideas about how to make it cool and cozy. He is 7 years old and football mad. We will be replacing the bed, possibly with a bunk bed but ai have my doubts on the usage we will get out of this. I think he may be getting too old for a bunk bed and in 2 years will be calling it babyish and asking for a new bed.
I don't think we will repaint, current walls are neutral and I think that will be kept. Would appreciate any ideas on things that will make the room comfortable for him.

Style and design are definitely my weak points and I normally get things very wrong so all advice appreciated.

I am a fan of wall stickers - Etsy do loads. He can choose some he loves now and if he has had enough of them in a couple of years, they are easy to change.

I had a bunk bed until much older than 7 (until 12ish maybe?) and 10yo DD loves a bunk bed at grandparents. However they can become a bit of a pain for some kids, having to climb up all the time.

Wall decals are a good idea as PP has said or football themed prints.
Look at mid sleepers or cabin beds to maximise space. Some have steps rather than a ladder with storage.
You can buy some that have a tent, desk or couch underneath which should last him longer. Good for homework or when friends come round.
A football themed bean bag might be good.

I’d also suggest wall stickers, my 7 year old son has space themed ones all over his bedroom

I've looked at wall stickers but I'm concerned about them damaging the wall. Are they easy to remove when we want a change? Don't pull off paint or plaster or leave a sticky residue behind on the wall?

No they don’t. I had some made by a seller from Etsy and they were great. My dd went from a snoopy bedroom with massive snoopy decals to a sophisticated shabby chic bedroom with flowers and chandeliers in the blink of an eye.

Great. I will try some of those.

Does anybody engage any suggestions of physical shops where we can go and have a browse for football themed deco. Not exactly sure what we want but looking for things like cushions, lamps, clocks etc. Would prefer to have a browse in store rather than buying online.

Next have football bedroom things. I saw them in a big home store though so they might not in an ordinary sized shop.

Cabin bed and big bold framed prints that can easily be replaced as he gets older and his tastes change.

I'm not sure about a cabin bed. Both my sister and I had one when we were kids and for both of us the space just turned in to a dumping area for clutter. I'm not sure a cabin bed would be used as intented. I would rather have a bunk bed to at least be useful when we have guests or a normal bed to avoid things getting dumped in the empty space of the cabin.

Does his favourite team have a shop? Won't be cheap though!!!!

His favourite team plays in White. I've already said that I don't think white bedding is a good idea but we might get some stickers or a lamp.

If you have a look on the next website and search for football, if you filter by ‘Homeware’, there’s some really nice bedding, rugs, light shades and lamps, murals, cushions etc.
