Periods stopping because of age or disordered eating?

I'm posting here for traffic but just wondering if anyone has experience of period stoppage due to disordered eating?

I have what I suppose is EDNOS, since I fluctuate between being about half a stone underweight and around half a stone into the healthy weight range. Sometimes I restrict my food intake for several days in a row, sometimes I eat nothing at all and sometimes I eat more or less normally but with the occasional binge. I don't purge.

My periods stopped in February this year when I was in one of my underweight/restrictive phases but despite being normal weight for several stretches of time since then, they haven't come back. However, I am 47 and I was perimenopausal for a couple of years before this anyway. So maybe they were going to stop anyway and I just speeded the process up with the eating/not eating.

Has anyone got experience of periods coming back after several months? I can't say I want them back and I don't miss the inconvenience and mess, but obviously I'm conscious of the osteoporosis risk.

I had a year without any periods and then one last final one before I hit menopause proper.

If you are worried about osteoporosis then you need to look at maintaining a healthy weight and address the disordered eating. HRT can prevent osteoporosis.
