Bake sale?

What (if anything!) would you buy from a pop-up bake sale/cafe?

Its a fundraiser for sport club who has a team which (v surpringly!) qualified for a World champs event. So not a proper charity, but local teenage girls in a minority sport. Nothing formal in place to make sure monies raised pay for the trip rather than beers for parents. £1.50 per item.

Would you be likely to buy...
Simple home baking (brownies, cupcakes, tray bakes, mirangues, etc).

Home made savouries (slice of quiche, small slice of pork pie, etc. Probably not higher welfare due to cost & parent choices)

Well packaged shop bought only - hygeine concerns, allergens, etc.

Nothing.

If it were a simple bake sale, I'd buy the sort of cakes I like best..... biscuit-y based ones for me and fruit type cake for dh.

BUT
If I could do a sale at a match (or even a tournament) I'd do a BBQ...... people are drawn in by the smell of onions cooking and expect to pay a fiver for a nice burger or sausage in a bun.
(I am assuming this is an outdoor sport at your own clubhouse / pitch)

If not, then samosas generally go down well, when selling food - order a large box from a local provider and you can easily sell at a large mark up.

Also, (and I know this isn't logical, but it is how people's minds work) -

If you charge £1.50 for one cake, people think 'that's a bit steep', but under obligation will buy one, or maybe two.

If you say "we're raising funds to get the team to the Championships, please donate whatever you like", then people will take a cake or two and happily hand over a fiver or a tenner. Particularly people already at the club who know the youngsters, but generally, older people like to see teens working towards a goal and earning money for a cause.
