Can anyone read this old inscription?

Any educated guesses as to what this might say/have once said? I’ll put it both ways up as I’m not sure what’s right. Wonder if it was Holly? Or maybe the Ls are 7s the other way up?

Regarding "maybe not British" I looked further and found that later on (maybe 1910s onwards) it was decided in Britain that doing lots of separate hallmark punches was taking too much time, so they created one swan-necked punch for rings in order to do all the hallmarks in one go (creating a long punch like on your ring).

(Sorry, I was really intrigued by trying to find a solution for you, but I think I've hit a dead wall now.)
