What is your local Next Door page mostly about?

Ours is bin collections and people jumping out of their skin by the government phone warning.

Missing cats.
Dog shit, often accompanied by an unidentifiable fuzzy door cam screenshot asking ‘does anyone know this person’?
Unidentifiable door cam shots of youths who have either knocked and run or were hanging around making a noise.
Local open days for community gardens, craft fairs etc.

occasional recommendations for tradesmen such as ’I had X come and fix my XYZ….would thoroughly recommend’.

Mine seems to be mostly out of my area, no idea why I’m getting pages for places 30 odd miles away but can’t be bother to spend the time searching out how to change the settings.

Missing cats, dead cats, rogue trades, people who are skint asking for household goods or food.. suspicious characters hanging about, asylum seeker hotels

Im amazed as well that each time I try to log in it wants some long arsed verification thing, having to send a code, which never comes, then are you a robot blah blah blah.

For some pissy little chat thing about the local neighbourhood.

Really? I dont have to do that.

Mine is mostly missing cats, dogs being walked in the heat and handyman posts trying to get business.

TheOlderIGetTheStayerIHome · 15/08/2026 13:02

I don’t have that issue logging in either.

JudyTeeny · 15/08/2026 13:02

I joined for a couple of weeks after getting an invitation through the post. It was dog poo, missing pets, lost property etc. Also long discussions with people arguing with each other and obvious wind ups and trolls. I left!

Reporting neighbours for having BBQs

mondaytosunday · 15/08/2026 13:19

Missing ‘delivered’ package, rogue door to door ‘tradesman’, found cat, plea to water street trees, seeking accommodation, looking for cleaner/gardener/childcare, moan about the wild fire alert and so in. It covers a really wide area - I’m in London and it covers a few boroughs making many posts largely irrelevant as not ‘next door’.

mishmashmess · 15/08/2026 13:22

Also missing cats, rogue traders, and a daily 'whose doorstep is my Evri parcel on'?

Madam2Swords · 15/08/2026 13:25

Missing cats, dodgy posts, and complaints about posts.

Hotafternoon · 15/08/2026 13:25

All of the above. It's tiresome, rarely anything really useful and full of ads.

Only go on occasionally.

shellyleppard · 15/08/2026 13:28

@TheOlderIGetTheStayerIHome I have the same problem with the distance. I've tried changing it but still most of the posts are for miles away

Same here and I still get nonsense in my junk folder, it’s very weird and badly designed too

Yes very amateurish I thought.
