There’s already another thread running OP.

We know. Do people seriously not take a minute to check for other threads before they post?!

There are several.

PeterRabbitsWhiskers · 14/08/2026 22:03

Thread number 984.
There are at least 2 in trending, at some points this evening, there have been 3.

Absolute tragedy. No one could've expected this. Horrible the way they treated him.

But I think until they confirm the cause of death its too early to make assumptions.

Making threads is a way of honouring his works and life. So what that someone creates another thread?

TammiesBackHurts · 14/08/2026 22:05

If you think people are honouring him, you should go read some of the posts.

Really? What are they saying?

Sunshineandrainbow · 14/08/2026 22:10

How sad.

Scrutinised and bullied till the end.

How sad for his family

Oops yes I notice a few. Might just try and cancel this one. There were none on when I posted. I guess we all just followed it very closely.
I must admit I wondered how his life would go. It's really sad that he could not have tried a fresh start.

Agree really tragic. 😢

Norugratsatall · 14/08/2026 22:48

Well the one I was reading a few moments ago has gone poof!

TheGospelAccordingToMe · 14/08/2026 23:00

This is the only thread I can see?

YourWinter · 14/08/2026 23:01

All the other threads have been taken down.

Starrylawn · 14/08/2026 23:01

And the daily Mail are reporting neutrally on his death like they didn’t make this poor man headline news for last 3 weeks. Even if he was a mentally unwell fantasist it should have been left once he resigned. They kept on and on

Iamacatslave · 14/08/2026 23:02

Hounded to death.

dnadiscoveryquery · 14/08/2026 23:04

Why have the other threads been deleted. We should be allowed to discuss the awful way he was hounded. Regardless of what he had done, he was bullied over the last few weeks.

Queenncat · 14/08/2026 23:04

3 threads (at least) deleted. this thread so far is saying all the correct things and none of the incorrect things, so it won't be deleted. Until people start saying the incorrect things and stop saying the correct things. Poor old Jason thoughts and prayers.

BermudaRhombus · 14/08/2026 23:07

I asked Mumsnet to delete the thread I started. Some of the posts were truly vile and would be distressing to his family and friends. He has only just died.

Pretty much every poster on one of the deleted threads said they knew this would be the outcome so not unexpected it would seem

Unexplained but not suspicious is widely accepted as code for suicide ime

Divebar2021 · 14/08/2026 23:09

I think it’s tragic but I don’t know if he was hounded to death. If he was innocent then Im guessing that his claims would be supported by all the various parties. The problem was the lies were being uncovered and there were so many of them. It’s no longer just papers like the Daily Mail but a range of sites including Tik Toks from people who knew him in school. Surely that’s one of the risks of creating what may be a huge web of lies. I’m not sure what measures would need to be put in place to limit reporting and how you’d balance that with free speech.

ScruffMuffin · 14/08/2026 23:09

I started to write this on another thread, which then went poof. So I expect this post will disappear at some point.

Forgive me, as this thought hasn't fully formed yet (and I lost a child to suicide earlier this year, so my brain is scrambled generally). But I hate the way that everything seems to have become a pile-on these days, thanks to nasty newspapers, social media, media in general, and keyboard warriors spouting vitriol from the safety of their sofas. It's like anybody who has a job which involves being in the public eye, or anyone who happens to make the news, becomes fair game for public scrutiny, and often in a way that intrudes on their past, their previous employment, their private lives, their families... sometimes in a way that goes far beyond what is pertinent to their job or role. And in these days of 24/7 media, they often can't get away from it once they get home. I'm not comparing Jason Arday to politicians, and do understand the questions surrounding his credentials, BUT this phenomenon has brought to mind the constant hounding and pressure on various MPs, and in particular our last PM, to resign. When a character flaw or any sort of wrongdoing appears, the public and particularly the media seem to become judge and executioner. Did nobody learn from Caroline Flack? From the Post Office scandal?

I'm tired, as well as not firing on all cylinders. I hope that somebody more eloquent than me might be able to rephrase or simply understand my train of thought here.

He was understandably confident he could shut down any doubters with cries of racism. That worked for a time.
