Just nearly crashed my car because of the emergency alert! Had it on my personal phone and my work phone! Genuinely made me jump!

Anyone else get a fright? 😆😅😅

And you screen shot whilst driving and pulled over to start this thread?

FunPartyIdeas · 14/08/2026 19:06

Me! Just!

SaraHoliday · 14/08/2026 19:06

A little. Fortunately I was not driving!

WatchingTheStarsFromMyHammock · 14/08/2026 19:07

Yes it made me run around the house wondering wtf was going on. Had plugged my phone in to charge so it was tucked out of the way inside and didn't realise it was my phone at first.

DontTellMama · 14/08/2026 19:07

I was in the middle of the weekly shop, glanced at it and realised it didn’t need my immediate attention, and by the time I went to read it it had disappeared off my phone! So thanks for posting what it actually said!

Iliketulips · 14/08/2026 19:08

Yes. No excuses now for anyone not thinking about implications of what they're doing.

Hermyknee · 14/08/2026 19:08

Ridiculous

should have given a heads up

For those with medical conditions and those driving it’s irresponsible

BillieEyelash1 · 14/08/2026 19:08

Yes! Was watching a movie and it scared the shit out of me. Fortunately I’d not had my AirPods connected.

nrp2 · 14/08/2026 19:10

Yes 😂 interestingly there was about a 2 minute gap been me and my partners phone - same network phones about 100 feet apart

macaroni234 · 14/08/2026 19:10

As someone who has had to evacuate from a wildfire while on holiday that scared the life out of me while I worked out if I was in actual danger from a fire as that was the word that stood out. Not sure that was the right way to do it. Will have worked though!

No.

I was pulling up onto my drive so grabbed it after I'd parked.

Yes.

My phone is completely silent. It never makes a sound. When it started beeping loudly I was so shocked I just automatically pressed "OK" without reading the message because it was hurting my ears and I needed it to stop.

So glad you've posted a screenshot so I can see what the message was!

No problem! You can go into your settings under emergency alerts - history and see them there. ☺️

I am currently in my garden with a glass of white listening to music, nearly dropped my glass, then thought Spotify had a major problem. Luckily no wine was spilled.

likeitshard · 14/08/2026 19:14

If you accidentally closed it, it should still show in your notifications

MelonSorbet · 14/08/2026 19:16

Only you, and all the people who've posted on the other 17 threads in active. 🙄

RaraRachael · 14/08/2026 19:16

Didn't get it

angelos02 · 14/08/2026 19:18

If only there was such an emergency when hundreds of men break in. It would be relentless

Seeline · 14/08/2026 19:19

I was scrolling FB and couldn't even find a message. Closed the app but there was nothing else showing. I'm really glad I wasn't driving. I'm sure the last thing the emergency services need at the moment is a major pile-up caused by that siren!

What do you mean?

We heard it, but couldn't work out what it was. I thought DCat had sat on DH's laptop again, but no. He was sitting on the floor. Thought no more about it, but it was on my screen when I picked my phone up later.

muddyford · 14/08/2026 20:00

I didn't get it.

setadriftonmemorybliss · 14/08/2026 20:39

I honestly think they should start at lower volume and gradually get louder with every ring until you answer. If I’d been driving when that went off, I’d have probably smashed into something. As it is, I have a child with ASD who is noise sensitive and it triggered a screaming panic episode in our house.

KnowCanDoCant99 · 15/08/2026 14:07

What did you order from Deliveroo?

PineappleCandy · 15/08/2026 20:03

Nothing interesting unfortunately! Milk, bread and cat food! 😆
