Climate change- does anyone have views on geo engineering

Following on from other threads and the awful and fast moving consequences of global warming , does anyone have any well informed views on geo engineering? I feel we desperately need to do something but the risks of unintended consequences seem high. I’ve read about sending light reflecting particles into the stratosphere, thinning cirrus clouds, using silicone in the artic to stabilise and reflect light.

It feels a bit Armageddon but I’m desperate for some hope!

It seems a lot of effort when governments could make real changes to impact climate change rather than, I expect, setting up businesses and making people rich from these geo engineering experiments.

Some people think it’s already happening op, but I admit I don’t know enough about it myself to form an opinion.

Maybe it is and that’s what is accelerating the problem , most humans really can’t be trusted when it comes to protecting the planet and just letting things be. Always have to act like parasites don’t we 😭

Oh I totally agree, but governments just aren’t acting fast enough. Trump for example 🤦‍♀️

First reply nails it. We already have all the technology, cheaper, safer and with other benefits so we don't need geoe gineering. We just refuse to implement the existing solutions because it doesn't profit the asset holding class.

I’ve tried to read up about the El Niño effects and so on and I can’t get my head around any of it let alone what other things you read ( conspiracy theories too)
All this heat, yet licenses may be given for North Sea oil drilling to go on. If that happens I’ve no idea, but it feels wrong when we are having these temperatures. Then others say it’s all hogwash and it’s the Earths natural cycles! So who knows with geo engineering or cloud seeding too. Although I wouidnt mind rain and lots of it at some stage.

It’s just so contradictory isn’t it , Burnham banning disposable bbqs yet will push forward with North Sea oil drilling ? Why not look at the root cause of the perfect wildfire conditions we have currently? No just ban bbqs and place blame with the general public.
