Saw this for sale in the interior design department at a farm shop attraction. I’m wondering if anyone can help me understand the aesthetic (and the price tag?)

Would you buy this lampshade?

If only we all had the nerve to cover a piece of hessian in a handful of modge podge AND be brave enough to let it leave the house AND offer it for sale AND charge a fortune! I feel like I’ve missed an opportunity as, like the seller, I have no artistic skills.

If only it was paint. the label claims it’s mud. Close to it resembled the stuff they put on walls when making authentic medieval buildings…

It's made out of what they used to call "wattle and daub" which was used to make peasants' houses. Wood and sticks covered with mud and dung.

Just be glad you aren't in Suffolk otherwise it would be pink. That was an actual colour known as "Suffolk Pink" made from limewash and bulls' blood.
