Anyone gone from wanting long hair to cutting it shorter?

I have hair that is approx shoulder blade length. It's a few inches past my shoulders. I wanted long hair for a long time. I was able to grow my hair to bra strap but the ends were so thin and straggly and I would need a trim.

Last winter I was looking in the mirror at the back of my head to see my hair using my phone. The back of my hair looked so bad. In that moment I decided. I am going to cut it. I cut it to just below my shoulders. I loved it.

It's a few in he's longer now.

The majority of my daily hair styles is ponytails or hair buns.

I have an issue. Over the past few weeks or since the start of July, there is so much pulling me in every direction. I had some gruelling stints in work as a carer. Even live in stints that went on and on without a sleep or a break or respite. My family who don't understand and requests from my family who are useless with technology and everything else. There has been days when I never got a chance to brush my hair this summer. Just wesr the same hair style going to bed and continue wearing it the next day and even longer with no proper time to look after myself.

It's not only just neglecting my hair. It's everything else. I think I am likely in burnout. There is too much of a pull from every direction and nobody cares about me. I have gotten sick time and time and time again this summer too and I just have to keep on going.

Lately I am thi king about cutting all my hair off or getting a pixie cut. I feel sick. How the fuck is my life like this where I want to consider cutting all my hair off because I don't have time to brush my hair.

I am booked in for a haircut next week. I would like to take my hair to above my shoulders anyways. There is something freeing about thst idea. My hair is somewhat thin on the ends and I know I won't be able for layers. Maybe it might give my hair more volume and body. I don't know.

But I am also getting somewhat nervous. My hair goal for years has been trying to grow my hair long and here I am not I want to cut it all off but I am not brave enough for that so I will likely go to a bob length.

What do you guys think? Anyone here ever want long hair and then just cut it?

I have a fat face with a double chin. If anyone has any recommendations of people with shortish hair that I can look up for inspiration that would be good.

Me. On a two year cycle. I cut it to above my shoulder, grow it to about nipple length, get frustrated by it and cut it off again. On repeat, and without fail. Sometimes I keep it short for a bit longer before growing it out.

I should probably realise that while I like the idea of long hair, it’s just not worth it in practice.

I find long hair easier than short, it can be scooped I to a ponytail or bun easily whereas short hair needs regular maintenance and looks messy if cuts aren't regular. I'd keep your long hair well trimmed and sort out your family's expectations
You're no use to anyone burned out.

The bigger problem here is that you are under too much pressure. It’s true that short hair takes less looking after but you shouldn’t be in the situation that you feel like having your hair cut off is something that you need to do for time saving reasons.

Do you want to say more about what’s hall at the moment?

To answer your question, I’m having a couple of years trying to improve the quality of my hair. I’ve stopped getting highlights and I dyes it back to its natural brown with henna. I got it cut to above my shoulders and I started sleeping in a silk bonnet. I’m also having flaxseed on my yogurt every day. Apparently that’s good for hair.
