Dancing/Classes

Has anyone taken up dancing?
I've previously learnt some very basic jazz jive steps (no lindy hop).
I miss dancing but now considering ballroom with salsa.
I like jazz jive and I'm in my 50's. I am relatively fit but I don't always find I'm fit enough to keep the momentum and not sure about learning anything too technical.
Line dancing doesn't appeal.

I used to enjoy ballet as a child and I have considered adult ballet classes.
I guest the best thing to do is to try different classes.
Anyone dance, if so what style?

Yes me! It is the absolute highlight of my week (tonight!). I can’t recommend it enough. My husband and I have a private lesson but you can go as a single female to group classes. Often beginners courses are run so you won’t be expected to twirl around the floor on your first lesson. Do it!

Thank you for your reply icanthink and your enthusiasm as my get up and go as somewhat got up and gone. What sort of dance do you do? I think I can persuade a member of the male species to come with me.

Have you ever tried Scottish Country Dancing? Danced in longwise sets, some people do come as couples but generally everyone changes partners for each dance.

Great to build up fitness and engage the brain too. There are groups all over the world, following the Scottish diaspora

I do both ceroc (modern jive) and line dancing and love both. Don't discount line dancing too quickly, there's a massive range of music and styles within it. Hope you find something you love.

Years ago I used to do belly dancing. They actively encourage having a belly! 😂And you don't need a partner.

Do you have a partner? Ballroom classes can be awkward if you ho as a single person (as o did for a few years.)
