Any ideas how I can get my ADHD medication
I'm with right to choose, doctor won't do shared care
For the second month I've run out of medication
The company say they will send me a code and they don't do untill I've run out
No medication yesterday and none today
I've emailed 5 times this week telling them I'm running out ,and that yesterday I didn't have any left .
Im literally having to spend two days a month chasing them to get it
Chat gtp says I can ring 111, but my local chemist said even if I do ,they can't issue the medication from 111

Basically just waiting for them to answer the phone ..
First time they actually answered,I got cut of

Who prescribed the medication? You need to contact them to write a new prescription.

If you contact the pharmacy company, they’ll still need to contact the prescriber to get a prescription.

Too late now, but I always keep a month in hand. Set up repeat prescription with patient knows best, surgery etc order two weeks before you run out and you will have it in time. With ADHD you just need to get organised once and life is simpler. Chasing each month is a waste of energy.

8 phoned for hours yesterday,and no one answered
I phoned today and someone answered then cut me of
Then I spent another hour on the phone
When they answered again,they said ,they are inundated with requests and prescribers are behind,and it will take approximately 5 days for them to get to me .
So I'm going to left with out medication for one week out of each month???

My doctor refused shared care ..so is this how it's going to be every month ?
How do I get them to prescribe it before I run out ????

I'm not with a surgery..it's a private company.. through right to choose

If it's on your repeat prescription but your usual pharmacy hasn't supplied it I believe you can get a doctor from 111 to issue a new script to be sent to a different pharmacy? Unless you're using your medication too quickly?

I've also had it where I had an infection and used antibiotics but they didn't clear it so a doctor from 111 gave me second script for same meds.

You request it earlier?

This is the first month with the company since titration ..no one told me I had to fill a form in to request it
So that was only done after I ran out .

Correct me if Im wrong, you have a private diagnosis, so a private prescription?
If thats correct 111 cant help you as not on nhs but you can get private prescription transfered over to nhs but id imagine you'd need a doctor. Its bad practice to let you run out even if you never filled out the form ( as your new)

Why do you have a private prescription as opposed to an NHS one ? I’m not an expert but unless it’s considered controlled drugs ( are they ? ) then you can request px well in advance , I often do if I’m going on hols etc and mine are mailed to me so posted through my letterbox as queueing in the pharmacy is hours on occasion !

I did right to choose, because the NHS company I was waiting with closed down..so it was right to choose or nothing
When I got diagnosed my doctor said they don't take shared care .
I was by the right to choose company that they wouldn't let me run out of medication and I was on their prescribing list and not to worry.
At no point did they even tell me to fill a form in

What does "NHS company...closed down" mean?
So your (NHS) GP referred you to the private company under the right to choose agreement, but they don't do shared care i.e they passed the diagnosis and prescribing onto the private company.
I guess you can go back to your GP and inform them the right to choose company is not fit for purpose. You can't be the only one.

I was on the NHS waiting list for 3 years ..
I phoned the doctors as I was getting fed up of waiting,to ask them to see how much long the wait was
The receptionist said the NHS company I was with ,had closed down a year ago ..and no one thought to tell me .
So that's how I ended up having to use right to choose.
This happened last month and I contacted my doctor,who said it is nothing to do with them , luckily my code arrived the same day
This month no code same day
No code at all yet
