Feeling really low.

Hi all, as the title states im feeling really low.

We have fence damage caused by next door neighbours. Ive had 3 quotes to repair and they are all around the 26k mark due to retaining walls. The fencer says next door will have to pay the bulk as they damaged the fence but I cant see them accepting that easily.

I know it sounds like im being dramatic but for some reason this week im feeling really flat, did not need this fence business on top

Is 26k a typo?

Is 26k a typo?

@BillHadersLeftEye no it is not. An engineer will need to come out and assess. I nearly fell over

I'm not surprised you're feeling low, if it's any consolation I am too. I'm finding life struggles too much at the moment too.

Do you have the money, if push comes to shove, to pay it?

I know how you feel, I really do and it is the pits.

I think most of us would feel pretty flat with that bill! Ouch.

Time to have a chat with your house insurance company, and if you have legal cover included with that, a chat with them too.

TheChosenTwo · 13/08/2026 12:09

Gah, a 26k bill for damage you didn’t cause would make most people feel blue regardless of how they were feeling before.
Sorry op.
How did the damage come about?

semideponent · 13/08/2026 12:15

Do you have insurance?

If they caused the damage, they should pay - but making this happen will require a lot from you in terms of claims, evidence and neighbourly relationships. Can you identify what is getting you down? Might it be the thought of conflict with the neighbour? Or the admin load? Or the thought that both can be bypassed by paying the bill yourself? Or something else?
