Preparing for a trip to New Zealand — flu worries

I'm travelling to New Zealand later this month and I'm trying to be a bit more prepared after getting quite ill with flu-like symptoms on a previous trip.

I've been reading about treatments for influenza and came across Tamiflu. I've never taken it before, so I'm trying to understand how people have found it in practice.

If you've been prescribed Tamiflu for flu, what was your experience like? Did you feel it made a noticeable difference, and were there any side effects?

I'm going to speak to a doctor or pharmacist before travelling, but I'd be interested in hearing people's experiences.

Tamiflu is given once flu has been confirmed (either influenza A or B)it doesn’t work on viral infections. I think you would struggle to have a dr/pharmacist to prescribe you it to take on holiday for ‘just in case’. You would be better getting the flu jab.
If you became unwell whilst away and it was severe enough for tamiflu then a dr would prescribe it to you.
