Help - colonoscopy prep, sudocrem and what to expect from laxatives?

Another colonoscopy prep question - I've read it's good to have Sudocrem, but when do I apply this? Before I start the laxative? Every time I have a poo?

Also, what will the poos be like? Just explosive and watery diarrhoea? I'm not entirely understanding why everyone says their bum hurts during the prep phase, is it just the constant pooing?

I did have noro when my oldest was in nursery, but have vague memories of lying on the floor next to the toilet. Is it going to be similar?

Despite having had other procedures in the past this one really has me quite frightened.

Yes, your bum will be sore. I used vaseline and kept reapplying it.

You're constantly wiping and pooing. It gets sore fast.

It can be very sore to keep wiping with toilet paper. You will be going to the loo a lot to clean out the colon . Sudocream whenever you feel like it .

It’s nothing like having a stomach bug.
The prep is grim. Drink it cold through a straw.
It’s after the second prep when things really start moving. Get the sudocrem on prior to the prep and sit on it or very close to the toilet. The poo will come out of you like you’re having a piss. It doesn’t hurt your belly but can be sore on the old anus! Don’t wipe after every go, you’re better off just sitting on the loo w a book or magazine for an hour. It should settle down after a bit although normal to be still going up to time of procedure.
Make sure you drink a lot of clear fluids during the prep.

Apply sudocrem from the start and then after each trip to the toilet. You'll be sore, this will help ease that and also be a barrier for your skin. By the end it's just water, but it can feel acidic on the sore skin, this is why the cream is important.

Super cold water to mix the prep, use a straw to help hide the taste.
