I am currently being investigated because I had stomach issues last year after having my appendix out the year before and my calprotectin came back as 1200. Normal colonoscopy waiting for a bowel scan I think!
My 16 year old has had anemia 3 times now and I happened to mention my issue in passing to her peadiatrician as he was about to discharge with more iron tablets - he said oh we will just test just in case. I really didn’t think much of it.
The hospital has just just called and told me her result came back showing greater than 2000.
She has no bowel symtoms just vitamin deficiencies and anemia .
The extra fun part is she’s also autistic so I’m very concerned about them needing to do something like a colonoscopy!
The peadiatrician recommended testing for my other 5 children especially my 17 year old who also has recurring vitamin deficiencies
What on earth is going on - I’d never even hear of calprotecin until February. I have stomach pain all the time but no no anemia so totally
Different to my daughter
What should I expect for my 16 year old will it be a very long wait for an appointment is 2000 high enough to make it more urgent?
Has anyone anything like this I feel like my head is spinning!
