Has anyone else been following the lindsay clancy trial? What is everyone thinkin? I dont think she done it

Or a murderer.

Certainly yesterday the jury made it clear that one of their number was misapplying the law regarding reasonable doubt.

The prosecution is obviously promoting heavily that the issue is one of deliberation - ie different interpretation of the fact. Not a misinterpretation of the law or refusing to apply the law - which is what Reddington claims. "has made statements acknowledging doubt but refuses to apply it "

Yes that's what I heard from Reddington.

It's so unusual - here in the Uk we would never have that level of info from the jury deliberation. Unusual in the us also judging by Reddington's comments

I have experience mind you of an extremely perverse jury member here in the UK who frankly, lacked the language capacity to understand the quite complex evidence that was presented to us. It was hugely frustrating but he was eventually swayed enough that we could reach the (correct) decision.

Why would you imagine that though, given she's entirely alert and not remotely drowsy?

Her composure, given her utterly atrocious circumstances, is quite extraordinary.

The prosecution will be arguing that bringing the jury back on Tuesday to restart deliberations after a long weekend of exposure to discussion will be problematic.

I have no idea if she is medicated just a supposition given she is in a mental health facility and given all that has happened. She has broken down on occasion but I don't think anyone could imagine how you would behave in this appalling circumstances. I couldn't imagine even living in this case. But I wouldn't infer that she is a cold hearted murderer from this alone.

Its a fully constituted SJC rather than a lone emergency judge which i had heard earlier. They may be granted brief stay to give full argument on Tuesday to SJC on the matter but it compromises jury to be out longer

I'm personally confident that, on gaining lucidity and knowledge, I'd've gone to pieces in a manner such the good lord himself couldn't piece me back together again.

Let's all move on from the judgements about LC's appearance, demeanour, glossy hair, social status and skin colour. And most importantly whether Lindsay Clancy, a paraplegic, is medicated or not.

Why would it be a mistrial? Because it is deadlocked?
Is it 12 jurors so currently 6 guilty 6 not guilty and they've been at it for hours with no majority verdict but only need 1 person to turn?

The jury has been out for so long based on one juror being obstructive regarding the judge's directions on beyond reasonable doubt.

No full unanimity is needed. A majority decision in the Uk (10/2 or 11/1) is acceptable but judges always urge and prefer full unanimity.

I'm taking about being out - as in away from the jury room. This is a non-sequestered system

The supreme court justice was just a single judge. They've made their argument and she has gone to consider.

Favour 11 not guilty because of reasonable doubt - no idea on the level of the not guilty but presumably murder whilst sane - which is what the prosecution had to prove beyond all reasonable doubt.

One juror, despite saying that there was doubt, has decided not to agree with the other 11 jurors. It has to be unanimous.
