Are you a cuddly sleeper, or do you prefer space?

Are you a cuddly sleeper? I am. I’d climb into his skin if he would let me but unfortunately he won’t. Obviously in the heatwave he pushes me off, but most of the time I am. I know some people hate it, and I don’t think I could be married to someone who isn’t, it’s probably a dealbreaker for me if I’m honest.

Ultra cuddly sleeper, l like to feel that somebody else is there. I find someone else’s breathing comforting too, that is as long as they don’t snore.

You've got a teddy?
Surely not.

I’m 37 and still sleep with a teddy 😂

StrawberryMatchaLatte · 11/08/2026 07:16

I often fall asleep with my head on his chest if we're watching tv in bed. But to intentionally fall asleep I need space.

Simonjt · 11/08/2026 07:25

I would happily live on my husband like a limpet. We have a superking bed, its pointless as he essentially sleeps on me, so one pillow, one single duvet and we’re great.

mondaytosunday · 11/08/2026 07:30

No! I don’t like being touched by another living being while trying to get to sleep. Even just an arm against mine - in a few minutes it starts to feel too warm and itchy. My old dog would sometimes snuggle his back to mine (I’m under the duvet he’s on top) and I’d have to scoot away. My late DH was also a furnace - too hot!

Nobabyyet296 · 11/08/2026 07:36

I like a quick little cuddle when we get into bed but then immediately like my own space. I feel trapped when I have someone cuddling me. I also feel the same if my cat is at my feet and restricting my movements so think it’s a psychological thing. Cat gets sick of my wriggling so she lies on my husbands side of the bed now 😂

CeeceeBloomingdale · 11/08/2026 07:37

S. P. A. C. E. Do not touch me with even a tiny body part when I am sleeping.

CloudyWithAChanceOfCustard · 11/08/2026 07:40

No I can’t bear it! I’m single now, but in the past I’ve ended relationships because of this 🤯🤷‍♀️

Like…I’m trying to sleep…get the fuck off me!! 😖

millecent · 11/08/2026 07:47

Definitely not a cuddler. And DO NOT BREATHE ON ME

SuperGinger · 11/08/2026 07:49

My DH and I do not cuddle while sleeping and I don't like cuddling him that much, he is awkward and sweaty 0he thinks I'm weird, I like the window flung open and fresh air all year round, I also don't like closing the curtains or blind as it inhibits airflow, in fact I would sleep outside if I could. DH likes the room hermetically sealed and curtains closed. So we tend to end up in a separate rooms.

DS has always been cuddly, his sister isn't but he loves to cuddle and even now at 15 if we lie down he cuddles up, we both fall asleep almost instantly.

IwanttoWFH · 11/08/2026 07:50

Absolutely not. Can’t stand anyone touching me or being near me when I’m trying to sleep or asleep.
I won’t share a bed with anyone on holiday (except my husband - but it has to be a king size). I need my own space.

chedderland · 11/08/2026 07:51

That kind of contact needed in sleep would actually be relationship ending for me

Yhe he is a knitted clown I’ve had since I was born. He is definitely kind of ugly and a bit creepy but I could never get rid of him.

Eurgh no. I won’t even let my kids touch me when they get in my bed. I have also been known to kick snorers.

Smallestshadow · 11/08/2026 21:18

I’m an affectionate person when in a relationship & quite tactile but sleep time is alone time. I prefer sleeping completely alone in a room.

MrsBeltane · 11/08/2026 21:21

He's cuddly, I am definitely not. It is a constant source of arguments. To be honest I really don't like being touched by anyone.

TragicMuse · 11/08/2026 21:26

With my first boyfriend we were entirely entwined at night. Possible because we only had a single bed for a long time! If one turned over the other followed.

Boyf #2 was not like that so I lost the habit.

And now I prefer a cuddle and then sleeping next to but not touching.

Part of it is a sensory processing thing. Arms are a problem! An arm has to be in exactly the right place or I just cannot stand it. And it’s a matter of millimetres so it’s an impossible task to get right.

Also, I don’t sleep as well as I did 40 years ago and am a lot more twitchy and restless.

That’s not fair on my husband, to keep jiffling about - he just wants to sleep! As do I.

LittleGreenDuck · 11/08/2026 21:37

I need space and can’t stand any snoring, snuffling or loud breathing but DH is a cuddler. I try to shift further away from him, he follows, I end up hanging off the side of the bed whilst his side is totally empty. More than once I’ve got up and gone round to his side. I’d like separate rooms but he’d sulk forever. Then again, I end up on the sofa due to his snoring probably 50% of the time anyway so it wouldn’t make much difference.

MidnightMeltdown · 11/08/2026 21:49

I usually face away from him and he puts his arm around me as I fall asleep. After a while he’ll turn over. I wouldn’t like him on me all night as I’d get too hot.

JesseDavisGonnaHangOnInThereNSoul · 11/08/2026 21:53

Cuddle before sleep, then distance for both of us.

parkezvous · 11/08/2026 21:53

Space. I’d rather sleep alone!!

Floppyearedlab · 11/08/2026 21:55

I love my OH but I love sleeping alone. I obviously do share a bed with him but I sleep so much better by myself.

CheeseWisely · 11/08/2026 21:56

I’m not, but unfortunately my DH (the human radiator) is. We split preference based on time of year, I’ll steal his heat in winter but banish him to the other side of the bed in summer.

Hmmmmwineandchocs · 11/08/2026 21:56

No no no. Need space
