Are you a cuddly sleeper, or do you prefer space?

Are you a cuddly sleeper? I am. I’d climb into his skin if he would let me but unfortunately he won’t. Obviously in the heatwave he pushes me off, but most of the time I am. I know some people hate it, and I don’t think I could be married to someone who isn’t, it’s probably a dealbreaker for me if I’m honest.

I am you lol. Except he doesn’t push me off. I don’t know how my husband stands me at night tbh but luckily he loves me. I wake him to ask him to turn over too so I can be cuddled then to turn the other way so I can cuddle him 🤷🏻‍♀️. I also wake him up when I’ve been to the toilet just to double check he hasn’t been replaced in the moments of leaving him alone 🤦🏻‍♀️. I blame 80s horrors lol.

If i was being woken up multiple times a night to cuddle/be cuddled/make sure I'm still me, I would not be responsible for my actions. This would drive me INSANE. It's bad enough putting up with DH snoring or puffing, and I regularly end up on the sofa. I'd love to have separate bedrooms but DH would sulk forever and probably snore louder because I wasn't there (his snoring gets louder when I just go to the toilet 🙄

I used to be but then menopause and now it just feels claustrophobic. Need to be touching tho in some way like an arm out or feet touching.

rosesarebluer · 10/08/2026 13:50

I sleep in the next room 😂

To be fair I did say I don’t know how he stands it. If the shoe was on the other foot I would probably be doing time 😝

Our dog sleeps in the middle of us so no cuddling possible! 😁

Brightbluesomething · 10/08/2026 21:39

There is no way on earth I want to be touched by anyone’s body parts when I’m trying to get to sleep. Or hear or feel someone breathing. That’s before you bring sweating into it or doing weird stuff with pillows instead of just lying on them like a normal person.
Thankfully I have a king size bed to myself so it’s not an issue. If I ever lived with a partner, which is unlikely, I’d be seriously discussing separate bedrooms.

Blogswife · 10/08/2026 22:43

I really hate touching when I’m trying to sleep . Even an arm across me feels like a lead weight . I’d much rather have my own bedroom but my DH would take it personally so I stay put !

timtamsarebetterthanpenguins · 10/08/2026 22:46

I like to cuddle the dog (or the cats) but not DH - he can stay on his own side 😂

chedderland · 10/08/2026 22:50

I couldn’t stand someone cuddling me like that to sleep. Talk about sweaty and claustrophobic.

SaferHaven · 10/08/2026 22:52

You see in winter I could happily have dp spooning me keeping me cosy but not in spring or summer and definitely not facing each other in close proximity.

JulietOscarBoring · 10/08/2026 22:54

No. Hate being touched when I’m trying to sleep. I do think it’s something you need to have in common with whoever you are sharing a bed with. If someone wanted to cuddle up to me I’d feel suffocated. Luckily for me DH feels the same.

SouthLondonMum22 · 10/08/2026 22:55

Complete opposite here. Cuddle before bed/in the morning etc absolutely fine but I don't even want a little finger touching me if I'm sleeping. I need my space to sleep.

ghostperfume6 · 10/08/2026 23:03

I’ve always hated it before and wanted space but current partner I can’t get enough cuddling and we sleep cuddled up together. Unless it’s a heatwave, we aren’t totally insane

throwaway3749574 · 10/08/2026 23:05

Weirdly I wasn’t before, until I met my now bf. He’s the only person I’ve been able to fall asleep on. I think it’s partly because he sleeps very “still”. I properly fall asleep with my head on his chest but always roll off at some point, sometimes I remember when, sometimes I don’t.

orangehandles · 10/08/2026 23:06

Seagulldancing · 10/08/2026 12:31

Space here. I really don't like people breathing near me when I go to sleep! Toddlers crawling into my bed was a total nightmare for me.

Oh I'm with you on the breathing. Don't like the sound of someone else's breathing and I absolutely cannot stand being breathed on, especially when he's breathing in my face so I'm breathing in his already-used air.

managingexpectations · 10/08/2026 23:08

We cuddle to sleep the. I usually get too hot and move over. When I first got with DP I did warn him I wasn’t a cuddly sleeper, I hated EXH even breathing on me.
the first night I stayed with DP I was worried I wouldn’t sleep as he had a double bed and I was used to a superking. Now I cuddle into his chest and fall asleep in second it’s brilliant

mumumental · 10/08/2026 23:10

No. I like space.

cinquanta · 10/08/2026 23:11

No. We have super king bed and stay far away on our own sides to sleep.

singswithitsfingers · 10/08/2026 23:12

Separate bedrooms. Cuddles before sleep and in the morning.

Any1ForTennis · 10/08/2026 23:14

God no, I swear DH turns into an octopus at night with limbs everywhere and his temperature shoots up to around that or molten lava. Constantly having to shove him back over to his own side!

Snuggling in bed died alongside my middle aged ovaries 😆.

It depends on the weather! 😂

Generally, I would categorise myself as a 'snuggly' sleeper 😂 I like to lay with my head on his shoulder and in the nook of his arm to fall asleep but we'd always be touching when asleep, even if it's just a foot or a leg.

It does depend on the weather. Currently it's too hot, though I like at least feet to be touching - but in winter, my feet and srse cheeks are often like ice blocks, so while I'm happy to be warmed, other people are less keen on being chilled...

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 11/08/2026 01:19

You've got a teddy?
Surely not.

chedderland · 11/08/2026 03:26

Eurgh the thought of feet touching fills me with horror. All sweaty and tickly.
