Push people away; it's what I do.
I know he's narcissistic and volatile and I'm better off without him but I'm scared 😟

Who is he?

Husband, partner or boyfriend and do you have kids together?

AutisticMumOf2 · 08/08/2026 21:17

Just think what do you want your life to look a year from now. There's your answer.

Partner. No kids.

Just realising more now that it's over how toxic it's all been. Property still to sell.

Thank you for your reply x

You are so right, thank you. Will make myself a cup of decaf shortly and all will seem better in the morning.
Just feel so silly that things with men seem to end up like this. Time to put myself first. Consistently. x

Try Mark Mansons YouTube videos - not everyone’s cup of tea - but I’ve found some really good stuff in them.

Also read the book ‘Love Yourself Like Your Life Depends on It’ by Kamil Ravikant. A friend said you can now find it for free on line on one of them book apps - I’m sorry I can’t remember the name of the app.

Make yourself a cuppa and treat yourself like you would treat your best mate - all the best op - people will be on MN all night.

FairyMaclary · 08/08/2026 21:29

Also Mark Manson recent set of podcasts - they also have work books - fab series - worth a listen. You can find them on the podcast app on your phone for free. I think The first one is Values. You define your values and this may help you realise your ‘partner’ doesn’t share your values. He also says he was an avoidant in relationships - might help you with your pushing people away.

@OneTwoThreeFear

Just focus on yourself. The more you realise who you are and what your values are, the more insignificant he will be.

If he has been Gaslighting you then that shows you who he is. His behaviour reflects on him. Let him do his gaslighting elsewhere.

Hope you feel better today. Listen to the podcasts and try the books. New day today - day one. I always find a new playlist of songs helps a new chapter.

Thank you so much once again to those who took time to respond last night @Naws @AutisticMumOf2 @sodoffbeforemycupofcoff @FairyMaclary and Fairy for this morning's message.

Today is a new day and although I'm feeling a bit fragile and foolish I will indeed listen to the podcast and some excellent music while I sort what I can in the house that alas we need to sell.

How was your day Op?

How was your day Op?

Really quite nice, thank you. Took it slowly but did quite a bit, and listened to a good chunk of the "values" podcast.

I've spent long enough worrying that I've disappointed others. It is time to put myself first, consistently.

I thought the podcast was good. They have quite a few now on a variety of topics.

Have a good day today.
