Tarot reading experiences

I had a tarot reading yesterday and pretty much everything she said was spot on, I couldnt believe it. She picked up on my relationship issues and described them all to a tee, described my partner and the fact he wont change or leave, said he will cause me alot more issues and wont make it easy for me when I choose to separate for good. Money issues. Some things she told me are making me anxious and I'm worried about what is possibly to come. What are your experiences with your own tarot readings?

Don't worry, it's absolute bunkum! They're just really good at reading people and picking up on your reactions.

Elieza · 08/08/2026 19:29

there will always be non believers. they just haven’t been to a good psychic yet. if they had they would know that the person had no way of knowing some things that they did know.

in my case the secret name of my dead baby i lost over 20 years previously when i miscarried.
not even her father knew i’d named her.
i told nobody. not a single person. until i told my mother after this reading decades on. because it was so accurate.

i hadn’t been thinking about her. i hadn’t talked about her. i went alone so my pals didn't know about this appointment. im not on social media. there is no way the psychic could know.

the psychic said her first name, no messing around with initials or a name that sounds like a biblical name or a name thats the same as a family member. none of that. just “theres someone here who looks like you and her name is xxx”. i started saying no i dont know any…wait…i do, omg……

explain that he non believers. you cannot.

Oh wow thats amazing. Same here I'm not on social media, I changed my WhatsApp pic to flowers, told no one I was going. She described my relationship, my partner, my daughter. Told me about this other male who is showing an interest in me, his starsign came up in the cards. Told me my mum sent him which I believe as she was also the same starsign as him and also an earth sign like me so I believe that. I have some chaos coming apparently and its not going to be easy, so understandably I am anxious, but its been chaos for the past 5 years 🤦‍♀️

Personally I think it's easy money and a load of bollocks, 32 years ago mine said I would move to France and master the language... .

Still waiting 😆

Was not in the least bit superstitious until a works outing 30 years ago, there was a fortune teller as one of the entertainment acts and she predicted my then partner (who was not there that night) had a 'dangerous aurora' that was causing the cosmos to be unbalanced.

2 days latter we were walking in the peak district and he suddenly declared of a build up of pressure around the back of his trousers like static. He was then struck by lighting (or a minor bolt the doctor said) but thankfully it caused no damage just massive shock on both our parts

fantom · 08/08/2026 22:31

I would love to believe but can’t. It’s expert cold reading and confirmation bias.

DorsetMermaid · 08/08/2026 22:31

I genuinely thought we were going somewhere completely different when I read "he suddenly declared of a build up of pressure around the back of his trousers "

DorsetMermaid · 08/08/2026 22:34

20 years ago a tarot reader in Glastonbury told me word for word a series of conversations I'd had with someone. Conversations I'd never told another soul about.

She told me how that relationship would pan out in future and, despite her being spot on about the conversations I never thought in a million years the relationship would go how she said it would.

It did.

If it's generally a load of rubbish that woman was either very lucky or a genius.

Well we were later told it's known as 'grounding' ' in the trade. It's where the struck person has a build up of electrons in preparation of the bolt about to go through them. But I'm no expert

YY. Throwing cold water over thread ... but not much, because drought:

“there's someone here who looks like you and her name is xxx”

Don't know anyone by that name? She looks like you, there's a strong family resemblance. Could be a relative you don't know about yet. When the circumstances are right, she'll make herself known. She's always looking out for you.

I'm sorry about your loss, and glad the reader was able to bring you comfort.

Told me about this other male who is showing an interest in me, his starsign came up in the cards.

How did this come up? Was it something like "A man born under Taurus is interested in you" or "You're in the early stages of a possible new relationship with a ginger-haired mechanic born under Taurus"? Because the first statement could mean anything at all.

Still, if you like the guy you thought of, go for it 😀 and I hope things settle (chaotically or not) for you soon.

He was then struck by lighting

What a great story! (Given neither of you was hurt.) I'm deeply unconvinced the reader's "dangerous aurora" was a lightning strike, though - I mean, she'd have said, wouldn't she?!

moonbug9 · 08/08/2026 22:49

I read the tarot. Sometimes I do readings for friends but I mostly just do them for myself. The cards never cease to amaze me with how spot on and insightful they can be.

SandwichSuperstar · 08/08/2026 22:51

One born every minute as they say.

Some people are just ripe for cold reading.

Tarot cards are not for predicting the future, they are for clarifying questions, or helping you see things more clearly. And yes, I can read them.
I’m very much a woo person, obviously, but really dislike mediums you book and pay for. However, one of my friends went to see one a few years ago to speak to her dead father, she had the recording afterwards and she made me sit through it over a bottle of wine. Excruciating!
She did not get to speak to her father, however the medium kept going on about her fiancés health, how he needed to get checked out. He was extremely fit and active, played sports and worked in a landscaping trade so super fit. Six months later he died of an unknown heart condition aged 30.

Frannieisnthappy · 08/08/2026 23:22

Please, for those who read tarot in this thread - could you pull a card for me?

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 08/08/2026 23:27

What the fuck is is a "dangerous aurora"?

Ok here is my personal experience with tarot cards. I owned a set and learned to read them and people said that my readings were spot on. I then bought Doreen Virtue's angel cards and would do readings with them as well, and sometimes use the two sets of cards together. I became very curious about astrology too. I was really into it and one night I had a dream where an Asian woman, I think Chinese, gave me a box. In the dream, she said 'I am you'. This is very, very condensed btw.

I started having incredibly intrusive thoughts and developed what I can only describe as OCD symptoms. I was absolutely tormented mentally and one day my husband said he saw me walking down the street from the car but it was like someone else who looked like me, wearing my clothes. It was me but a different person and he couldn't explain it.

Eventually I threw the cards out because I had a sense that they were attracting evil, even though I did all of the protective stuff before each reading. Things got better but I was still obsessed with the horoscopes. One night in 2013 I was reading my weekly report and heard a voice in my head; not audibly but like a very concise thought that wasn't mine and it said 'God doesn't want you to read your horoscopes'. It took me by surprise and I got such a shock that I closed the laptop and never read my stars again.

Fast forward 4 years, I started having experiences that I won't go into, but which were urging me to investigate Jesus. Anyway, long story short, that year I really felt Jesus pursuing me. A few days after I had quite a radical encounter with him, I saw on my Facebook feed that Doreen Virtue had come out to publicly denounce her own angel cards. If you don't know her, she had been the world's most famous psychic medium. In her facebook post, she said that she had been deceived by demons masquerading as angels and that they had revealed themselves to her. That she had an encounter with Christ and realised that what she had been doing had been wrong. She gave her whole career up and now campaigns to raise awareness of the dangers of dabbling in the occult. I couldn't believe that she came out with this so soon after all of my experiences.

I became a Christian the following year and haven't touched any form of divination since. YouTube is full of testimonies of ex tarot readers who have turned their backs on it because of the darkness that is always behind it.

I can only imagine some of the reactions of people reading this who either think that I am crazy or don't understand true spiritually. I am honestly a very stable, reasonable, sane person and I lived in the 'spiritual not religious' world for a long time.

That is just my experience of tarot. I believe it is performed either by charlatans who are good reading body language etc or people who have access to spirits who have been observing you and your ancestors for thousands of years and who can relay information and mimic loved ones to unsuspecting readers. My advice to anyone who asks, is stay away. Sorry, I didn't mean to get so dark but you did ask 😀

I don't know. I feel like it was some kind of a transaction. Spiritually it felt very significant and I feel it was brought in by the cards and had a real effect on my life. I know this sounds crazy!

I had many tarot readings in my late teens through to mid twenties, mainly because my mum was really into going to them so I thought it was a normal thing to do. In my 50s now and can categorically say nothing came true, even the ones where people told me how amazing and accurate they are. I always sat still though and didn’t give in to leading questions, so they would have a hard time cold reading. Though they would frame it as ‘you are being very resistant…you have to be open to the process.’ To encourage you to give clues.

My mum still goes, and I find it sad how much she believes in them and their ‘advice’. She has made some fairly bad decisions through believing in them.

Chocolatl1 · 09/08/2026 10:21

Fascinating thread. Shamelessly asking, for anyone who can read tarot and who would be happy to do so, to do a reading for me please, too?
